will depend on how many people filed a complaint with the AGs office and or respond to the communication/email/letter/etc that gets sent out to who they deem as "eligible".

ill certainly include it in the newsletter to be sure any MC owners who are tuggers read it!

I gather, from the announcement, that purchasers will get money back. However, with the club prohibited from renting and required to get new management and directors, current owners will now be able to get access to their weeks and, possibly, lower mf.

Yes, I think it is less about the $ back and more about the control of the resort. Just think if every state's AG sent a lawyer undercover to a company 's time share presentation...I think that part of the story should put a chill over every sales office out there. And for those of you dealing with Wyndham, I would keep calling the FL AG, and using this case as precedent.

Based on an average sales price of $25,000 (probably too low for this resort), there would only be enough money to refund about 240 owners if this is true. Seems low.

I see the current management is required to sell their interest to another party. I wonder if Bluegreen will step in. I know they currently have many Manhattan units in their points system, and that they prefer to manage their resorts themselves.

We stayed there last winter, and found it a great location from which to tour the city. Our suite was becoming a bit worn-looking, and the interior decoration was, I thought, just drab. Like the poster above, I do wonder if the current management will just hike MFs to pay the judgment before selling a crippled property. I note that the AG's release said nothing about who/what actually owns the building, which was originally constructed as two wings of the Park Central Hotel, which is still in business with its main entrance on 6th Avenue.

I'm glad to hear that something's been done. I truly believe that the whole Manhattan Club thing was a huge come-on. When my husband & I bought into II back in 1999 or so, we were told that we'd be able to exchange to the Manhattan Club in NYC but even though we tried many times over the course of a number of years - being sure to allow a LONG lead time, putting our name on a waiting list, etc. - we were never able to do said exchange. Then we found out that II only had a tiny number of spots available in MC so our chances of getting anything were practically nil. I hope that those who actually purchased at MC get their $$ back - or at least part of it.

We have stayed at MC twice through trades with RCI and loved the location and accommodations. I have seen the units for sale on eBay and here on TUG for $1 and feel so sorry for owners who have those huge maintenance fees. I hope they can get some payback.

The latest rumor from Bluegreen sales people and those going to update presentations is that Bluegreen is about to be bought by Diamond Resorts. Hope not!
