Hi All,
I have 3400 points that I am not using this year so I plan on rescuing them.

I think my 2 choices are I can rescue back into HGVC and have a year to use them or I can put them into RCI and have 2 years to use them.

Is there any advantage to putting them into RCI? I've never booked anything in RCI so really have no idea how it works.

Thanks,
Duane

Third option is to convert them to Hilton Honors.

Third option is to convert them to Hilton Honors.

Personally i don't think the HHonors option is that good of a deal, so unless your planning a trip that involves a hotel and not a timeshare i would choose one of the other options.

Though this does have the advantage that once converted the HHonors points last indefinitely.

You could rescue and give them another year in HGVC. If you don't use them you still get 1 more year of life left by moving them into RCI at the end of next year.

You normally get 2 years when depositing into RCI, but rescue only gets 1 additional year, I think they consider the rescue year as 1 of the years it could have been in RCI.

I would only convert to Hilton Honors if you had a specific reservation required, generally it is a last resort, as it is not good value for your points.

My understanding is that you can only "convert" next year's points to HHonors, not current year points. Thus, HHonors is not an option for the OP. From The Rules:

"On or before December 31 of the current year, Members may convert any or all of the following year’s ClubPoints into Hilton HHonors points at the current applicable conversion rate."

Yes you are correct. I believe you can however use current year points for HHonors, but they are used at time of booking through HGVC call center. And the point conversion is even lower than when you convert next years points.

Thanks all. No desire to exchange to Hilton points as I agree that is the least favorable way to go. I'll just rescue as I am pretty sure I am going to use them in 2015.

Just didn't know if there was any advantage of depositing to RCI since I've never used RCI.

Only if you want to stay somewhere else. You have to pay to deposit to RCI and then pay $209. exchange fee when you do the exchange. So, if you plan on staying somewhere in the RCI network, it would be okay, but if not, you are paying lots of extra fees for something you don't want.
