Actually, I'm like number 28,000something in line. Put in perspective, last year, about 9,000 Smart Cars were sold in the US. So I'm not really counting on seeing it anytime soon, and there will be plenty of reviews before I have to finalize the order. If it turns out to be a POJ, I have a nice T-shirt.

Yeah, they found out that configuration didn't work. Even so, they had to make certain maneuvers to make the Robin tip. Uphill, or by turning to the right, it would have been a non issue. Front engine, rear drive also doomed it.

I think these looks quite promising, and am very interested to hear your experience once you get it. Speaking of that...have they announced a delivery date (or estimate) yet?

I'd really like to get a fiscally responsible yet safe vehicle for city driving, and am not convinced this is it.

If you look through the website, you'll know what I know. They are estimating starting production next year ('15). The plant is a GM plant in Shreveport, LA, and retail centers (they say, like genius bars) in the 60 largest markets. Service at 800 Pep Boys. 84 highway mpg, 49 in town, $6800 retail base price. 3 airbags, full roll cage, stability control.
