Hello all, I am very interested in buying a Palace Resort membership. I would love some advice about this. I have been there, loved it. Just don't know how to do it on here. I can't find one for sale. This makes me think I'm doing something wrong. I see them on eBay and they are expensive compared to others. I am doing tremendous reading about timeshare because my husband and I have never owned one.

There are none currently for sale in the TUG marketplace so even if you're doing it right you are not going to find anything here.

On the red bar at the top of this page click on "Marketplace."

From there click on "search classified ads."

From there type in "moon palace" and you will find all the ads, for sale and for rent for that resort.

There are other places to look on line and a google search will take you to many of them.

Make sure you are fully aware of what you are getting in a Moon Palace deal. The costs when actually using a week are very expensive.

I do not see why you would buy moon palace, you can rent for the same cost/discount you would get for being an owner. It has a mandatory All Inclusive and therefore you still pay $2000 as an owner, unless something has changed

n Owner I Would Get Privilege Things Like Low Airfare Sometimes. So I Guess Not? Why Are Timeshares For Moon So Expensive? I Assumed It Was Because It Was 'better' Than Others. And Because I Had Such A Great Experience There. If I Buy Another Timeshare To Trade, Can I Trade For Moon Palace?

You would be better off buying a week through from a Place member who already has those perks in their membership. You will pay the same price through them as you would if you bought a membership but without the initial expense. Some members will sell weeks at discounted rates just to get referrals.

You will pay more in the all-inclusive fees for on visit than you will pay for your week. I saw the contract when a friend of mine bought there and was shocked. RCI fees are not the standard ones. You need to pay approx $1000 if you want to trade for a two-bedroom.

BTW-A week is defined as a studio, so if you want a two bedroom which is the presidential suite, it costs either 2 or 3 weeks

RCI has a couple resort codes for Moon Palace so theoretically you could exchange into there.

Realistically, someone who owns there would have to deposit a week for it to come available then who knows if it will ever make it to be exchanged.

One reason it costs so much could be the lack of units for sale and people like yourself who fall in love with it and want it now.

Take your time and look around. I'm sure it's a lovely place but great places can be found with out spending a large amount of money.

If you decide that's what you really want the start searching for an affordable unit.

Owning here paying these fees plus an annual fee plus a cost to buy would be a personal choice, not one that I would make.

Most palace and hard rock members only pay Mf when they use. The better (several upgrades into it) have no extra Mf,s when using and lower ai fees. Your best bet would just be to rent from the higher level VIP owners. They have paid their $30, 000 + and when they rent to you, you only pay a little more than they do and get 90% of their benefits. Shop around to find a member offering the best deal.

There is no benefit from buying on the resale market. It is primarily a membership and they strip the benefits and charge a high transfer fee. Since owners/members only pay when using they have no incentive to sell unless they get a large chunk of what they paid back.

Wow. I had no idea. Thank you guys for all of the info. I'm a little bummed to be honest. I've been reading SO much on here and a book about"how to win the timeshare game" until my brain hurts. But fully thinking it was going to be an easy choice for me. But knowledge is power. Now I'm looking for a 2 bed/2 bath in some place very desirable during Christmas or new years week. Oh, and it's supposed to be around 1200-13000 square feet(according to my book). I simply adore this site. The whole idea of trading brings so many possibilities. Thank you all! What other holiday weeks are good for trading?

I would write down the places you want to visit and than look for a timeshare company that has resorts at most of those places. Let us know where you want to go for the next 10 years. How much you can spend up front, what size unit you want and how much you are willing to pay each year on MFs.

Thanks So Much For Posting That Pricing Info. But I'm Still ConfusedAbout One Thing. If I Purchase A Membership From A Member On The Resale Market, And That Membership Has No Maintenance Fees, And You Have To Pay The All Inclusive Fee (It Would Be Me And Husband), How MuchIn A Guestimate Way, Is That Fee? I Understand It Varies, And I Understand What It Includes. I'm Just Talking About The Basic Fee That Covers Gratuities Beverages Food Activities.
I Ask Because I Am Considering Buying One.

It depends on the week. It is over $3,000 a week for a member during holiday times. Usually it is about $2,400. Not much avantage to being an owner. I know because I am an owner.

Thanks Patty, That Was A Close One. I'm Just Shocked. I Went There On My Honeymoon(9 Years Ago) In August(Granted CheapSession, Buy Hey, I Got Married In August) And It Was About 2400-3000 For The Week, Not Including Airfare Of Course. Well, There Goes That Dream...I Should Have Known Better.

For members, the price quoted is for 2 people in the same room. There would be an additional charge for each additional adult in the room. There are no additional fees, unless you want to upgrade your room to "concierge" level; in the past, that fee has been about $200/week.

Also, the Palace and Hard Rock resorts provide $1500-1800/week in resort credit, which can be used toward spa services, golf (if not included), some tours and water sports, etc. However, a couple of years ago, they instituted a 20% service fee when resort credit is used. That means if you got a massage for $100 using resort credit, you would be charged $20.

Hope this helps in understanding the All-Inclusive fee. I am a Moon Palace owner and will be going to the Hard Rock Resort & Casino in Punta Cana this summer. As an owner, my All-Inclusive fee for this period is $2525. There was a promotion campaign going on when I was booking my stay and since I am an owner my cost was reduced to $1700.
