Hi everybody, I have an exchange to Lagunamar in Cancun for next December and I'm wondering if there's anything I should know about while I'm in the 24 hour cancellation period? It appears that the weather is a bit cooler in December, but still quite warm? Is the end of December typically a decent time to visit Cancun?

We went last year to WLR from Dec 7-14th and it was great. Rain one afternoon, each morning was beautiful with the sunrise. Even with the humidity levels, the breeze off the ocean made it quite comfortable and it never felt as warm as the weather indicated. Some complain about the pool temps, but it was very nice last year.

On site restaurants (italian buffet on Fridays) need some improvement, but I would recommend doing a large grocery shop and BBQing at the grills and eating in room most of the time. Book it, you won't regret it!!! Still one of our favorite spots!

If you are a Costco member, consider doing a Costco run arranged through the resort for about $40. The taxi driver will wait while you shop.

There are some wonderful restaurants in Cancun. I would not bother cooking anything other than breakfast and maybe lunch.

La Parilla
Du Mexicque
Harry's
Puerto Madero
La Habitula Sunset
Sasi Thai at the Marriott
Thai Lounge at La Isla

I would agree. No need to buy provisions for cooking big meals. Just the basis, breakfast, snacks, water and such.

Great advice thanks! It's going to have to wait until another time though since my WKORV trade came in for the same time and I gave up the Lagunamar. :p

Are you looking for poolside menu prices and other restaurants at the resort? If so, I may be able to take a look at my receipts from our May trip to see what we paid for some things. I do know that their Mexican buffet night at Oceano was $380 pesos. Not real cheap, but it was pretty good.

Though you are not tied to eating at the resort, while we found the food there to be pretty good, it isn't as cheap as other options in Cancun. There are lots of great restaurants. Plenty within walking distance and many others a short bus ride away. La Isla mall is right across the street with some great places to eat.
