@hanaleihaze Here's another option to Rent WRMV via Marriott.com

You could:

1) convert your WPORV to Bonvoy points and pay with points. But may not convert to enough points.
2) Pay cash and use the 25% owners discount. See how this compares to renting from an owner.

Converting WPORV to BV Points is not a good value - the MFs are too high for the BV points obtained.

@hanaleihaze If you take the $23.5k you were going to spend on Flex, put it in the bank at 2% interest and simply rented via Marriott.com with 25% discount every year. How many years would it take for that money to run out?

If for example, you spend $2000/year to rent from Marroitt hotel website with owners 25% discount (or other method), you could rent more than 12 years before that incremental Flex pays off. Of course if you rent out your WPORV you could offset this cost.

...and, @CalGalTraveler

I'm thinking we just keep PORV and use those SO to (try to) book WRMV, eight mos out. Our dates and times of year are flexible, so that should help.

At the very least....we can just use points and/or rent out our PORV week and use $$ towards booking WRMV w/Bonvoy pts.

We need to find a WRMV owner who would LOVE to trade their week for PORV :)

@hanaleihaze That makes a lot of sense because it doesn't cost you any more money and leverages the ownership you already paid thousands to buy.

Congrats on rescinding and saving $23.5k.

@hanaleihaze I'm a Westin Flex owner and I can tell you it is very difficult to make a reservation at Westin Riverfront at the 12-month mark during June/July/August. I tried for about ten days exactly at midnight Eastern time to make a reservation before I was successful. Very little Riverfront inventory in the Flex program. If you really want Riverfront, buy Riverfront instead of Flex.

Thank you for that info and personal experience, for booking the WRMV property, under the Flex program.

You confirmed exactly what our biggest concern is.

^^^^^^

This corroborates one of the big fears about the Flex programs (both Westin and Sheraton) -- that they don't have the inventory to back up the implied promise that owners will be able to reserve inventory at the resorts they want during the season they want.

Caveat emptor
