Had to cancel our Sunday arrival at Kingsland because I fell a few days ago and broke my arm/shoulder. We had paid for cancel coverage but noticed online that you only get half of points back if you cancel within 31 days of arrival... so I called.

No problem at all... all the points refunded. I told the rep I had just saved the last few points to 2019 and asked if I would need to pay again to save these. She put me on hold and said it is all taken care of... no charge!

We had a multi island trip planned and I am so thrilled with how helpful everyone at the hotels, car rentals, excursions, etc have been. I know we read lots of horrible stories, but thought it was worth posting good news!

I don't whether to offer congratulations or sympathies.
Well, you have both. It's good to hear a positive outcome.

So sorry you got hurt. I hope you have a speedy recovery.

Hgvc is good to its members. Cancel coverage covers all prior to arrival. Even when it doesn’t cover something, they do make exceptions. I was in Myrtle Beach’s Ocean 22 this week and was suppose to check out Thursday. Last night we decided to leave today as they are predicting strong steady rain Thursday. I told them I didn’t want to risk driving through it and they credited me with one days points which just solidified why I own HGVC. They treat their members well.

That is a nice story and I am glad that you did give HGVC some credit. We get so many negative comments(many of them are very justified) about HGVC and Hilton Honors on this site that it is nice to see someone appreciate some of the things that they do that they don't have to do. I know I have made negative comments when Open Season Rates went up suddenly by almost 100% a few years ago and the problems with changing reservations when all the nights are not available but you have the unavailable nights in your current reservation which took years to rectify. However, HGVC did rescind the Open Season Rate Increase and they finally did get the changing reservation feature straight.

I am glad that it worked out for you. I do agree that the customer service people at HGVC are generally very customer oriented and they try to do the right thing. We are a Ocean Oak this week and are planning to "ride this thing out". Of course, just when we plan to leave, the weather is looking very good.
