I am just starting out the process of buying a 2BR WKV 2BR platinum contract. I am purchasing this contract with the intent of staying at the resort here and there, and more than likely using the SOs EOY for Maui or Kauai (I travel to Hawaii nearly annually at the end of September). I am pretty sure that I won’t need the points in 2019, so I am debating whether I should bank those points for future use in 2020 and 2021 for extended stays, or if I should rent at least part of it.

I imagine that it will take at least 6-10 weeks for the transfer to take place. Booking spring training in 2019 to rent out will definitely be out of the question, as I am sure that books up 12 mos out. What are some of their popular weeks to book with the intention of renting?

For those of you that rent out on redweek, do you use the “verified seller” option? If so, how much does redweek skim off of the rent for this option?

Spring training is already unavailable for 2019. It does usually go fairly quickly, I would say within a few weeks of inventory becoming available. These are the most popular weeks for renting. If you buy a Platinum week, you can only rent out those weeks. VSE rules specify that you can only rent what you own. This would limit you to weeks 1-21 and 51-52.

I use RedWeek and the only fee, if you handle the rental yourself, is the cost of the ad, abiut $30.

Hooe this helps good luck with the purchase.

+1; your best option would be to bank your 2019 StarOptions.

The large side one bedroom rents for much more than the small side, even when considering their relative numbers of StarOptions. And the incremental rent between the large one bedroom and the entire two bedroom is less than the rental value of the small side. Irrational, but that's timesharing.

We just released our March week at Kierland yesterday. We decided to go to Maui in June instead. Check the inventory. It probably already went but you never know

They now seem to have 3 services.

$30 to just post a listing, you do the rest including if you decide to use one paying a fee to an escrow agent ($150 (split 50/50) for a $2000 listing)
$80 for a managed listing where they do it all for you (plus another $100 when a rental is agreed)

and now a mid-range option for $45 which gives you a Verified flag on the listing plus some CC money collection facilities that they seem to be a bit unclear about how it works?
