You will have to find out if your first usage is 2018 or 2019. Do you know this answer?

2019 - I was hoping to borrow 2019 points to try it out before the end of the year tho. There are no 2018 points

I don't think they pro rate but I thought they had a cut off date something like October or November 1. If you closed before the cut off date you pay the whole year if you close after the cut off date you don't pay for current calendar year.

I agree but I think the cutoff date is sometime during November.
