Planning to do breakfast in our condo and packing a few picnic lunches for our day trips.
What's the best spot for good pastries/bread for our sandwiches?

Waikoloa resort area or Waikola Village?

In the Village you have the Waikoloa Market, which should have everything you need.

In the Waikoloa resort area there is Island Market, an upscale (and very good in our opinion) grocery store. It's located in the Queen's Shops.

We got sticker shock at the Queen's land grocery store. I liked better the Foodland farms store at Mauna Lani than Island Mkt. Foodland is a couple minutes drive north from Queen's shops. Prices were in between upland Waikoloa village, and Island Mkt. Is a grocer, not a bakery, but plenty of deli item and sandwich fixings.

Haven't shopped Foodland at Mauna Lani. Not sure if it was there the last time we were on the Big Island. Island Gourmet is more expensive for some items, but we found them competitive on others, at least with the Waikoloa Village Market. What we liked was the convenience of the location, their prepared meats, and I fell in love with their Poke.

You are correct that Island Gourmet is not a bakery, but they do have breads. I don't think there are any bakeries in the Waikoloa resort area.
