OK, first time attempting to book a home week (even though it's more points, it's "cheaper" in the long run due to no fees).

When I went to book it, HGVC is only allowing me to do Friday check-ins.

Dumb questions:
1) Where in the contract/deed does it state the check-in is Friday vs. Saturday?
2) Can this be changed somewhere? (Like you call HGVC and say I'd like to be BLAH?)

1) Where in the contract/deed does it state the check-in is Friday vs. Saturday?

That of course will be the correct legal place. But you should be able to see it on-line on your home page under Home Week booking section.

2) Can this be changed somewhere?

Not that I am aware of. It is a non-changeable reservation.

You can also see the designated checkin day under the Resort Overview section for each resort.

Here’s the section for the Flamingo

Thanks. I can see the check-in date online, but I was just wondering how HGVC goes about setting the date, if it's not in the legal documents. ALL my resorts show Friday as check-in even at other resorts.

But if it's in the Resort Overview, that would probably also be good information for any folks looking at purchasing (regardless of resale or direct) so that they know what their check-in days are. Guess that's another "where you own" may be an important thing to know.

It should be in the HOA document. Each resort is assigned one. You didn’t see it?
I’ll check my old HOA docs tomorrow.

Thank you. I had incorrectly assumed all HGVC resorts were Sat-Sat...now I know better. And even more importantly...where to look.

I searched the HOA documents for the 3 HGVC locations that I've owned and found it noted in the Declaration document.

The original declaration documents states that the checkin day of the week for SeaWorld is designated by the developer (see sample below). Flamingo and Lagoon Tower state that the day of the week is assigned by the board.

NOTE:The original Declaration document for each property may have changed in later amendments. I didn't check the various Declaration amendments.

Here's the section for Sea World (from the original declaration document)

2.45 Unit Week shall mean a period of ownership in a Unit committed to Component Site Timeshare Plan which shall consist of not less than seven (7) days commencing at 12:OO noon on a day of the week assigned by the Developer and ending at 12:OO noon on the same day of the week in the following week. Unit Weeks shall be numbered 1 through 52, and all Unit Weeks in a particular Unit shall begin and end on the same day of the week, although the beginning and ending day may vary from Unit to Unit. Unless otherwise designated by the Developer in the first deed conveying a Unit Week in a given Unit, the Unit Week shall begin and end on Saturday. Therefore, unless otherwise designated by the Developer, Week No. 1 is the seven (7) days commencing on the first Saturday in each calendar year, and Unit Week No. 2 is the seven (7) days immediately following. Additional weeks up to and including Unit Week No. 52 are computed in a like manner. Unit Week No. 52 contains the seven (7) days succeeding the end of Unit Week No. 51 without regard to the month or year. Any excess days not otherwise assigned shall be designated as Unit Week No. 53 and shall remain the property of the Developer, to be conveyed or retained as the Developer determines from time to time. References to "Unit Weeks" in this Declaration shall be deemed to include Biennial Unit Weeks unless the context dictates otherwise.

Very helpful, thanks. I was looking at my original purchase paperwork, not the HOA docs.
Incidentally one of my resales is Flamingo.

But this is good to know these things. Maybe we can add a small section to that master article about home week check-in day, and/or the sticky for the detailed resort info?

Might be helpful (I know I'll certainly take this into consideration on future resale purchases).

The deed refers to the recorded Declaration document. The Declaration document is the legal document that provides all of the details.

The fixed check-in day has been mentioned in various threads over the years, the HGVC article on the TUG Advice Page and in the HGVC Sticky thread since 2009.

“Home Week” is also described in HGVC’s Club Reference Guide (see below)
(1) Home Week reservations are consecutive night reservations at the Home Resort in the season and unit type owned, for the number of days owned, checking in on the resort’s standard or available check-in day (“Home Week”) . Members have a priority reservation period to reserve their Home Week during the “Home Week Priority Reservation Window” without competing for such reservation with other Members other than those owning the same suite configuration and season at the same resort . This window lasts approximately ninety (90) days beginning one (1) year (365 days) prior to the desired check-in date and ending nine (9) months (276 days) in advance of the desired check-in date .

After the Home Week Priority Reservation Window ends, Members will no longer have an exclusive window to book their Home Week, however, they may still make a Home Week reservation, subject to availability .

The Home Week Priority Reservation Window for BW Vacation Suites and GI Vacation Suites lasts six months beginning one (1) year (365 days) prior to the start day of the desired check-in and ending six (6) months (186 days) in advance of the desired check- in date .

Home Week reservations may only be made using current ClubPoints . When a Home Week reservation is confirmed, the entire annual allotment of ClubPoints assigned
to the Member for that ownership interest is used . Home Week Priority Reservation Windows may be extended during the first year that a resort is available for occupancy through the Club .
