Football fans dread the end of their season, and winter’s start. But, it all depends on where you live…

The San Diego Chargers and their fans had to watch the AFC championship with no skin in the game. But they have a slightly different perspective:

Do they cry in their beer? (no, margarita); do they look forward to Spring Training? (no, Padres); do they look forward to next season? (yes, and hope LT will be back); Do they shovel the driveway, check the heating oil, dread the long winter ahead and pray for spring? (NO!, they go to the beach!!) [Photos taken 2pm, 1/18/09 ]

I used to think Football was a Fall game.

After seeing your pictures at the same time I'm looking out my window at the snow, I'm moving to San Diego!

At our house football is a year round sport! My son will be a high school senior next year and informed me this past Sat. "215 days until their our next game."

They have team meetings, workouts and weight training throughout the off season. So he's focused on football all year.

He's a team leader (that's what they call the captains during the off season). Last spring he was sleep walking at 1 AM saying "Where's Coach B? Where's Coach B? There's a meeting and I'm supposed to be there?" I sent him back to bed and in the morning he had no memory of the event! So he thinks about football all the time, all year long, when he's awake and when he's asleep!

Plays football, thinks about football, watches football, practices football, eats for football, lifts weights for football, dreams about football..........and girls!

I miss the end of college football each January. I used to be a big NFL devotee until 1995 when the Cleveland Browns died and were reincarnated into Ravens. I do wish the Steelers well in their upcoming Superbowl bid since the formerly intense rivalry we shared is irrelevant:bawl: .

I'm one of those folks who has to pay for the football package on DirecTV to see my team. It used to be a good value. Now, it seems, they price it thinking you are charging your neighbors to come over and watch. In addition, they make you pay $99 for the Super Fan package to get the games in HD. That's not fair! I just wan the HD. I don't care about the other stuff in that extra package. They should offer the HD as a separate package!!! I complained last year and they gave it to me free. This year I got it for half price. Not hopeful about next year!!

davidvel - normally I'd be upset with your sunny beach pictures (I live in Montana), but right now I'm sitting on my balcony at Shadow Ridge and getting your warm weather vibe!! :D

Cheers!

p.s. Sorry about your Chargers. :(

But you've got the new Cleveland Browns!!??!! They're not very good, but the old team (now the Ravens) weren't a whole lot better when they were in Cleveland. :ignore:

I, too, miss football as the season winds down and then ends in February. I even watch the Pro Bowl every year to get one last football fix...and that's a hard game to sit through. :)

Thanks! The strangest 3rd quarter in NFL history. So Cal is certainly a paradise. From your other post, it sounds like you're living it up over there.

If you like mexican one of my favorites is just down Monterrey on the south frontage road off 111:

Casuelas Cafe
73703 Highway 111, Palm Desert, CA

Order a Margarita and you'll enjoy; order more than 2 and get a cab home!

Looks like rain coming in, stay dry. We're rooting for the Steelers (AFC).

Thanks for the restaurant recommendation. I plan on hitting as many "ethnic" restaurants as possible while I'm here. Montana only serves meat and potatoes! Sometimes the meals I have on vacation are the highlights of the trip! :D

The paper says rain, but it's sunny and warm right now. Might go lay around the pool before my golf clinic this afternoon. After my round yesterday, I need all the help I can get!

Cheers!
