I am in the process of buying a HGVC 2BR platinum season with 7000 points at Orlando seaworld or international drive. I know that I can get to stay 1 week in any resort in a 2BR platimun season. I would like to know whether it is possible to split that into a 2 seperate vacation each 1 week in a 1BR in a platimum season.

1BR in a platimum season needs 4800 points, so do I need to have 9600 ponints in order to do what I am planning? Please advise.

Also, I see the price is anywhere between 10900 to 27000 in the resale market. Can someone help me with the going market resale value of those two resorts.

Thanks
Venkat

I can't help you much with the prices... others here keep up with that. But I can tell you that, if you spend 4800 pts for a 1-wk stay and you want a 2nd week in the same season in the same size unit, then heck yes, that another 4800 pts... you don't get a discount for the 2nd week.

There's two ways of gathering enuff points:
... 1. Buy a TS or two or three, which gets you there, but understand that the more units you buy, the more sets of maintenance fees you'll pay. Its better to buy fewer units with more points.
... B. Carry forward your points from one year for use in the next ("deposit" or "rescue"), or take points from next year for use this year ("borrowing").

Then there's Option III... Cut down on the number of points you use.
... Stay fewer days (minimum is 3 days).
... Stay in a season other than platinum.
... Stay in a resort where, its the same dates, but not their platinum season.

One more option:

stay in a smaller unit.

Last time we went to Honolulu and again this coming April- we chose Studio units at HHV. Last time it was about 1200 points, I think, for almost a week in March. There were just 2 of us, so it worked out ok.

Also, you can stay immediately after a high demand season ends- eg, last Sept, we went to Valdoro in Silver season, just as soon as it started, and got a 2BR unit for a low # of points.

You can likely stay for twice for 5 day & 6 days in a 1bd for the same number of points as staying in a 2 bd for a full week. (2980 fora 5 day Sun thru Fri then 3940 for 6 say Sun - Sat ). You just need to stay as few Fri, Sat & Sun as you can because they cost twice as mnay points as a Mon-Thurs.

It is 3400 pts /week to stay in a 1 bd during gold season.

So a 7000 pt platinum 2 bd week will get you 2 weeks in a 1 bd gold season TS.
