Hello

I am a newbie and will be purchasing my 1st timeshare very shortly. My 1st experience with Timeshares occured at the GRand Desert in Las Vegas- I loved it, I am very interested in purchasing points as I really cannot commit to the same week every year. I looked at buying directly from Wyndham but as you all know the prices were not even on the same chart as the resale- but one of the rep's told me they were looking at shutting down the internal transfer system to everyone who bought aftermarket. Has anyone else heard this- after Wyndham shutting down guest privildges I'm worried anything is possible

Hi,

The sales staff has been using that angle for a long time, there's absolutely no basis for it. The whole FSP system is based on internal exchanges. Banning resale from any resort other than one's own is a sales lie, good for you for doing research before falling for it.

Good luck finding a resale deed, there are many threads here offering advice. Right about now you ought to be able to get a great deal!

Edit - I just noticed you're in Canada. I half remember international users posting in the past with problems either during the closing process or using the TS. While I didn't read closely and don't remember what the issues were, it might be worth your doing a search for the old posts. Or, someone else with more knowledge will probably post when they see this.

Second lesson. NEVER listen to a sales Weasel

Hello

Lies piled on misrepresentations. Yes, Wyndham has announced the end of the ability to transfer/rent FSP Points between owners. That change may or may not occur. But it applies equally to resale ($.02-.01) purchased points and retail ($.15+) so the facts are twisted to trick you into over paying getting nothing for the massive difference. A resale point is EXACTLY the same as a retail point in how it gets you use of the system. That, and the cost to obtain that point, is the only thing that really matters. Never listen to a sales Weasel unless its for entertainment value. They can be very creative like any con artist working to separate you from your money.

Also see this thread. This story must be a new, standard Weaselism taught at the Weasel Institute for Lies, Half Truths and Misrepresentations.

I heard the samething 5 years ago, and almost everytime when you mention resale in a developer "update" or "sale pitch".

That is a long future to come.
