Is there an easy way to conect my laptop to a television to watch dvds and to play music ?

I have a 5 year old Dell (el-cheapo) laptop, and it has S-video out to drive an external monitor. For sound (no audio with S-video), you should be able to tap into the headphone out on the laptop and run that into your TV's RCA audio inputs via an adapter cable.
