I am looking to buy in PV with Villa del Palmar but I'm new at this. I've read that you should know about special assessments and legal issues. How do you find out about this stuff. Will the timeshare resale companies be forthcoming and if not where would you go. Also is there a list anywhere of timeshare co people have used and didn't have any problems with.
Thanks:wave:

Yes - there is a list at the top of the Buying, Selling, Renting Board. However, the best prices are found on ebay.

Your best bet regarding special assessments is to ask in the appropriate forum (resort specific) here on TUG, if you find a resort you are serious about. For you, that would be the Mexico forum.

Special Assessments Should Fix Problems Permanently -- Not Just Stick Band-Aids On'M.

We have not had any problems with any of our timeshares.

That's not to say we haven't paid special assessments at some of'm.

Special assessments are a timeshare bugaboo bigtime, no doubt about it. They are not always deal killers -- but for sure they are important issues in the ongoing management of timeshare resorts.

Special assessments as a substitute for poor financial management, out-of-control collections, outdated billing records, etc. -- No Good.

Special assessments as a way of putting a timeshare resort's financial house in order once & for all -- No Fun but OK.
