If I take my 2 br / sleeps 8 lock off and exchange just the 1 br / sleeps 4 side for a 2 br / sleeps 6 unit, am I guaranteed this size unit. When I do the search on II, and it asks for the number of people, the max I can put in is four. Since there are six of us I would hate to drive 8 hours, thinking I scored a good exchange, only hear "I'm sorry, since you claimed to only have 4 people in your party that is the only size room we have available for you"

You get whatever the exchange confirmation says. If you were able to trade your 1BR for a 2BR and 2BRs at that resort sleep 6, then you can sleep 6.

You get whatever the exchange confirmation says. If you were able to trade your 1BR for a 2BR and 2BRs at that resort sleep 6, then you can sleep 6.

I recently exchanged the 1B sleeps 4 side of my unit (in Tahoe) for a 2B sleeps 8 (Saratoga Springs in Disney).

As Joe said, if your confirmation says you're getting a specific number of bedrooms, than that's what you're getting.

I think that if you were to put in a search through II's site you'd only be able to exchange for a comparable size. This process is different than doing an on-line search to see what's available.

This is correct and this is how you get a bigger unit than what you're exchanging for.

This is from the TUG's II FAQs thread

What size unit can I get with an Exchange?
A.
• With an “Instant” online exchange, you can search for any size unit that your week will match with. So if your studio can find an instant exchange at a resort which show a 2 bd available, you can trade for that 2 bedroom.

• With an ““Ongoing Search" / "Pending Request" exchange, you can only search for a size unit which is the same as your unit size ( or less). EXECPT: If you are using a 1 bd unit and want a 2 bd unit, you can get a 2 bd unit by requesting an exchange into a resort which have only 2 bd units.

Hope that helps
