It's a program under which you can earn Marriott Rewards points or other benefits (depending on what state you live in) for referring prospective timeshare purchasers to Marriott. In some states, you'll earn if your referral attends a presentation. In other states, you'll earn only if they buy. Residents of CT and OR are not eligible for the referral rewards.

You can read all of the details by logging in to your account at MVCI.com and clicking on the Tell-A-Friend picture on the right side of the page. The FAQs have very good info.

Good luck in getting the $ or points ... I've always had to chase MVCI for them.

we got 10,000 points once, but ticked off most of our "friends" by sicking a timeshare salesman on them. We always pass on these "opportunites" now.

We got one of those friendshare e-mails yesterday from Marriott Vacation Club, too.

Interesting story...

One of our renters bought two developer intervals while staying in our unit. Since my MR number was on the reservation, about 2 months after the sale, which I discovered when looking at Friendshare for a different reason, 80K points showed up in my account. About 6 months after that, someone from MVCI called and wanted to re-direct the points to the account of the new owner's "friend". I told them "what points?", as I had tied them up into an award cert while on the phone (we were taking my MIL to NYC and I knew the days/dates) and proceeded to explain my support role as landlord in explaining the Marriott system to the renter and educating them about our resort. Needless to say, I kept the points and MIL enjoyed her first trip to NYC at the tender age of 76. Thanks Marriott :)

BTW, another person has now popped up into my Friendshare account showing "sale pending". Hmmm... ;)

(rather than editing, I now recall the conversation with MVCI was via e-mail, not phone, and I purchased the award cert after the first e-mail)
