I've never had an "I'm blown away" meal in Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge that would impress a foodie.
I will amend this. Just finished a meal at The Appalachian, and I think it would be worth a visit. I had the trout. It’s trying to do maybe one too many things flavor-wise, but it was still very good. The berry cobbler was not overly sweet, a little dense, and also very good.
It’s in town in Sevierville, off the Parkway, and so more of a locals place than a tourist destination. And that’s probably to its benefit.
I don’t drink (already exceeded my lifetime quota) but the bar looks very well provisioned.
Entree, tea, and dessert was a shade under $50 plus tip. Very reasonable for the quality.
We are bringing a contemporary Southern Appalachian dining experience to Sevierville and Smoky Mountain area all while honoring the past.
