Where can I check which resorts have resort or other fees?

Is there a way to check which fees resorts have? I've noticed when booking Ko Olina for example it comes up at the last step about the occupancy tax but otherwise I've not seen it anywhere.

All Hawaii resorts have the State of Hawaii Occupancy tax.

The island of St. Thomas has a fee/tax too.
I don’t think you’ll find a fee high enough that it would be prohibitive.

At a Marriott likely not. At II exchanges, definitely can! Many all inclusives, Vidanta, etc.

Assuming you are booking directly through MVC you won't face any resort fees.

Taxes are different issue and are at the discretion of the city, county, and state in which the resort is located and are subject to change at any time. Hawaii and the USVI currently have 'use' taxes of one kind or another but they are under consideration in other locations as well. Visitors are ideal revenue sources in high demand jurisdictions - they don't vote in local elections.

Add Aruba to that list as well and I believe parking at Beachplace Towers for those who do not own at that resort.

Certainly parking is a whole other kettle of fish. To begin with there are many MVC resorts (e.g. Ko Olina) that charge for parking is you are paying cash for a villa instead of staying via timeshare. But there are many that charge for parking for everyone - Boston, NY, SF, DC. And yet others like Beachplace and MOC that treat weeks owners using their weeks differently than other guests.

How so for MOC. Other than assignment preference when staying there other than owned weeks, I don't recall any differences.

Yeah, my understanding at MOC (Maui Ocean Club) for parking is that it works the same as Ko'Olina. Timeshare based stays don't pay for parking and cash based stays do. Really the only one in a situation where it treats different kinds of timeshare based stays differently for parking is Beachplace Towers. As for Pulse locations, I think most don't even have parking and you are relying on third party garages near the property?

So back to the original question.
Is there a list somewhere of the daily taxes for each of the Hawaii resorts?
Recall it is over $20/ day at a couple of them but don’t remember exact amount

It changes every year because it based on 50% of the annual maintenance fees of the resort.

If you own at Napili and are staying using your deeded week, valet parking is free if there is no availability in the Napili parking structure.

Boston and DC both have parking and charge for it. The SF Ritz offers free parking. South Beach used to offer paid valet parking...but I don't know if they still do since driving is now prohibited on Ocean Drive in front of the South Beach Pulse. I think you have to pay to park in the SD garage, but don't know for certain.

I understand that Boston doesn't even have a parking garage? They just park your car on surface street parking around the building?

Sort of. The Custom House has it's own plaza in front of the building, it's incredibly convenient.

Is the closure of Ocean Drive permanent? I heard they reopened it in 2022, but closed during Spring Break again 2022 and this year 2023 .

Ocean drive is 'permanently' closed to all vehicle traffic south of 14th Place and north of 13th St. (the Pulse is just north of 14th St.). Vehicles can travel southbound from 13th to 5th and both ways from 5th to South Point Dr.

According to the Miami Herald, Spring Break 2023 also brought the following closures to Ocean Drive...

March 4-5: Fifth to Eighth streets will be closed from Saturday at 7 a.m. to Sunday at 7 a.m.
March 10-12: The same streets will be closed from 7 a.m. Friday to 7 a.m. Sunday.
March 17-20: Ocean Drive will be closed to cars from 5th to 13th streets from 4 a.m. Friday, March 17, until 7 a.m. Monday, March 20.

South Carolina resorts - I don't think OceanWatch in Myrtle Beach and the Hilton Head properties have been addressed here. There is a new resort fee of 10% and a sales tax but not for our personal use of our timeshares either as an owned week or as a points reservation. However, this is due on rentals and the owner is responsible for remitting these to the tax authority. For this reason, if I rent out one of these properties, I do it through Redweek so they will collect the required taxes and fees and remit these to the taxing authority.

Feel free to correct me if I got any of this wrong.
