We thought about ordering a pre-cooked turkey dinner from a local restaurant -- heat & serve. But ultimately decided that futzing about the kitchen was more fun (and less expensive).

So, we're brining a 17-lb, turkey in our garage-fridge (it'll hold a 5-gal container), pre-cooking green beans and giblet gravy, and about to peel the potatoes.

Then we have to get out the "good" table linens and china.
Just for the privilege of entertaining my SS's and their GF's.

No visitors for us this year, just DS and 14 year old DGD who live with us now, so we bought a spiral sliced ham that we just have to heat up. DS works nights, sleeps days, which took care of the question of whether to eat midday or evening. Afterwards we’ll see about decorating for Christmas in a way that won’t attract too much attention from DGD’s teenage kitten!

We're timesharing, and the resort left a turkey pan and foil, but we are going out- have reservations for 4:00. Sadly, no leftovers for a late nite turkey sand. We (meaning I) will start packing the car to break camp and head home Friday morning to pick up the dog and commence life as we know it.

We are at the Westin Kierland (It's nice to get a a little vacation in, and spend time with family that lives nearby).

I am thankful for my family!

Our kids are at such a great age (9, 5, 5)...I'm particularly grateful for the relationship our kids have with each other (that I'm sure will have many ups and downs as they get older).

When a teacher asked what our twin boys were thankful for they both said "I'm fankful for my twin bwover".

Hope everyone has a nice Thanksgiving.

I’m thankful for low stress holidays.

I’m solo, as is my norm for most holidays, so my big plan is to watch parades in my pjs, down a (lunchmeat) turkey sandwich at lunch, then take a stroll to the nearby small town down town. If the pub is open, I’ll stop in for a refreshment and some football.

Staying home on Friday, maybe binge watch something (Im very behind on Yellowstone). probably Sunday I’ll collect bargains at the grocery store. Those hams get cheaper every day they don’t sell.

This year, my daughter is having TG with her husband's family, and my son is having TG with his father's family - so I'm not cooking! To tell the truth, I don't mind at all! Rod and I are going to have a nice meal at a new casino in our area.

So much to be Thankful for this year. Just me and Kim this year. Can't wait for our 1pm reservation at Hiro's tomorrow. No leftovers though so we decided to roast a turkey next Thursday. Nothing makes a home nicer than the smell of a great dinner cooking. shaka

Have a Happy Thanksgiving everyone!!

May be just dh our daughter and me. We're hoping my sister in law will join us. But the table is all set and we'll be picking up dinner from Sprouts tomorrow morning. It's nice to have the full Thanksgiving dinner without all of the prep work. There is still the clean up however.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!

congrats on Not Cooking!!

You need to come spend the holiday with us. No cooking here either.

It's just the two of us, so for the second year in a row, we're going to the best of the several local big casinos here in our Nevada town, to enjoy a spectacular T'Day meal served by the best steak restaurant in town. They put on an amazing holiday spread. Last year they loaded us down with so much leftovers we ate for three days on them. The doggie bags they gave us were the size of suitcases. All I needed to do was make some mashed potatoes to go with everything they sent us home with. An absolutely spectacular meal.

(If anyone cares, this is the Thanksgiving Day feast at Katherine's Restaurant at the Casablanca Resort in Mesquite, NV. Not a plug, just sharing a fantastic experience.)

A Safe, Healthy and Happy Thanksgiving to all.

We started preparing today. We will be 10 adults, 4 children and a dog. My kids and grandchildren will all be here. Something that is getting harder and harder to do. Someone is always missing.

Many blessings to all!

If I left now, I still wouldnt make it in time. NV is waaaaaaay past the Mississippi.

perhaps they thought your doggies at home were Great Danes? Love the image of suitcase of leftovers. Love their generosity even more!

I like the idea of going on a cruise over Thanksgiving (next year).
They do the cooking, and we can legitimately ditch the relates.

Just the 6 immediate family this year, and I'm almost finished with all my “day before” prep. For the first 45 years or so of my marriage we joined my husband's extended family—aunts, uncles, cousins and their kids—for a giant Thanksgiving potluck. Everyone pitched in to bring fresh-roasted turkeys and all the trimmings for the 40 or more who came. It was a wonderful way to stay connected to that family. My mother in law was the last of her generation and even in her 90s hosted at the community room of her senior apartment. Her death about 5 years ago followed by COVID has ended that great tradition. And I found myself in my 60s having to figure out how to cook a complete Thanksgiving dinner by myself!

I like that idea. if it’s not a packed house. I’ve been wanting to take a cruise but there are necessary expenditures before a treat like that.

also enjoyed peacock joke. When we bought our last house, there was a peacock living on the deck. After we moved in, Pete left, but periodically returned. Never knew such a pretty bird could screech like that. Wasn’t sad when Pete quit coming around.

Pete probably forgot to wear his costume one Thanksgiving... :D

I already cooked a big Thanksgiving turkey dinner for our family in October for our Canadian Thanksgiving. We are now snowbirding in our FL condo and our DD is here for the week. I will be cooking another turkey dinner tomorrow for just the 3 of us. Just a little 10 pounder this time, a little easier than the 18 pounder one last month! I cheated and bought a pie (& ice cream) for dessert this time.

Have a happy and safe Thanksgiving everyone!

My brother says that only one of two daughters is joining them.
The other daughter is going to her BF's house... in Tampa.
His two SS's are going to their in-laws -- "traitors."
He told the daughter who's coming: "You are now the favorite."

Happy Thanksgiving to my TUG Family!

This year, I/we are home in Milwaukee and will be preparing the "traditional family" Thanksgiving dinner that my Mom did throughout her life. There will be 6 of us . . . family and adoptive family. I am probably most excited about having baked a homemade pecan pie, made from fresh pecans we "picked up" (literally) from my Grandma's farm in Georgia this past weekend!

We had two peacocks in our area, living on a farm next door. They would fly
on top of my cousin house and they would screech early in the morning and in the evening.

My cousin went into his house, one day and said enough is enough and he fired off his rifle at those peacock. We never saw or heard those peacocks screeching again. True story happened over 35 years ago.
