My wife and I will be staying at Timber Lodge on points starting June 6. We have titanium elite status. Will we still need to pay the valet parking fee? TIA.

Titanium elite status doesn't factor into whether or not the parking fee is charged. We stayed using destination points and interval exchange and there was no valet fee. I believe the valet fee will be charged for cash or Bonvoy award stays.

If you used DC points, the answer is no, you won’t pay for valet. If you used BonVoy points I’m not sure, but a quick call to the resort will clear it up.

We will be both there and Grand Residence next week. As I understand it, if booked with MVC points the 1st car is free and additional cars get charged. Son and GF are coming up to join us next weekend so we're looking at 2 nights of valet parking fees, I think.

You can always unload bags in the check in area and then go park at Harvey's for free. I'm actually doing that right now (in the middle of a 4 day "encore" visit). Saves $30/day + tips and you can actually get to the car a little faster than waiting for the valet.

If you run like a valet, maybe.

I thought GRC charged, but others can clarify.

Interesting. Good info. I had heard that Harrahs is charging for parking. Good to know that Harvey's is not.

It took me 13 minutes to get from the 4th floor of Harvey's garage to the swimming pool this afternoon, and I was shuffling down the street in my flip flops. Would have been 11 if I didn't just miss the crosswalk light at State Line.

When booked with weeks or MVC pts, 3 bdrm unit covers parking for 2 cars. Everything else is 1 car.
One would think studio + 1 bdrm = 2 bdrm = 2 cars but it doesn’t work that way…..

We are going to have company tomorrow. How did Harvey’s work out?

Has anyone else used Harvey’s parking recently? Anything I should know if my guests park there?

Harvey's (and Harrah's across the street) stopped charging for parking during the pandemic. I assure you when I visited about 2 years ago during ski season, parking was being charged. (Elite Harrah's/Harvey's customers plat or higher get free parking by swiping their Total Rewards card.) Parking at Harrah's was still cheaper than the daily rate at TL at that time.

So just know that while they have stopped charging for parking during the pandemic, that can revert back to the old policy at any time (and they have the gate infrastructure in place to enforce it).

For many years we took advantage of the free parking at Harrahs/Harveys for our 2nd car during our owner's week stay at TL. During our last stay (2019) we had to pay at H/H, so parked down in the Mont Bleu lot instead. Now that Mont Bleu is having construction of the community center (or whatever it is called) I assume they are not allowing free parking.

We will be staying at TL in 2 weeks, so will share what I learn.

This is what I find when searching for parking, and as sysharkie says, I assume the policy was waived during the pandamic but could start back at any time. LINK

We stayed at Timber Lodge about two weeks ago and parked at Harvey’s rather than use the complimentary valet parking at TL. Parking at Harvey’s was still free, but the entry arms are still in place, so that could change at any time.

Best regards.

We ended up in a 1 BDRM + Studio at TL using DPs and didn't get charged for the 2nd car. Could have been a snafu but we were pleasantly surprised.

We stayed with just 1 car at GR SUN - THU using DPs and didn't get charged anything (which is as it should be.)

YMMV

I'm almost certain parking enforcement will be reinstituted prior to Heavenly opening for this winter season. The primary reason for the change (as I understand it) was that casino patrons couldn't find parking during the day because Gondola patrons would come early in the morning and stay all day. Of course, YMMV -- casinos haven't been exactly raking it during peak COVID time so maybe their thought process has changed (though I doubt it).

I thought a studio got a parking space.

I am here this week. On Monday I snagged a last minute studio for a friend for one night. We were not charged for their valet parking. I cannot report on the casino parking as we haven’t gone down that way. The gym and kids clubhouses are closed. We were told the Grand Residence accepts limited number of TL guests in their gym if requested. There have been some limited kids activities at the pool area. Due to staffing shortages, several of the restaurants here are not doing take out orders in the evening. Heavenly Village was a madhouse over the July 4th weekend. Weather has been great!

We're going up next week. I just got an email from them with a section called, Know Before You Go. And it says "...please note that face coverings are now required in all indoor resort public areas — regardless of COVID-19 vaccination status..."

Is that true?

Thx

California private businesses have the right to set their own rules with regard to face coverings -- since TL sits on the CA side of Stateline, they would be required to follow CA laws and regulations. If that's what the email said, then I would expect it to be true as of when the email was sent.

-ryan

From the CDPH website:

**Guidance for Businesses, Venue Operators or Hosts
In settings where masks are required only for unvaccinated individuals, businesses, venue operators or hosts may choose to:

  • Provide information to all patrons, guests and attendees regarding vaccination requirements and allow vaccinated individuals to self-attest that they are fully vaccinated or meet an approved masking exemption prior to entry.
  • Implement vaccine verification to determine whether individuals are required to wear a mask.
  • Require all patrons to wear masks.
No person can be prevented from wearing a mask as a condition of participation in an activity or entry into a business.

The email I alluded to also provides a link to the resort status page, and on that page, and in other links it provides, it states that masks MAY be required. So that sort of contradicts what the original email states. That is why I was replying to texare's post since they are there now and would know/see what is actually being enforced.

I've got no issue either way, and all 12 of of us (from the 12 year olds to the 97 year old) that are going up next week have been vaccinated, so I was more curious than anything else.

Steve,

I can’t remember exactly where I saw it or was told, but here and all of the restaurants say the same thing. If you are fully vaccinated no masks are required, if not vaccinated masks required. This is consistent with the updated California rules as of the end of June. It is a very rare mask that I have seen.
As an aside, we had an earthquake here yesterday and a fair amount of aftershocks. I am not aware of any significant damage here in South Lake Tahoe, but it was certainly eye opening!

we were there two weeks ago and almost everyone didn’t have masks. It was not an issue.

We've been here five nights, and have four nights to go. So if anybody has any questions, fire away. There are no restrictions at all as far as covid is concerned, except that the kids activity center is closed. There had been word that the workout room was closed due to remodeling, but it is now open. And they were also doing external painting, but that is now all complete, and looks very nice.

As far as parking is concerned we have three units here to our owner weeks, and one is an interval trade. We used a Ko Olina studio to trade in but there is no charge for parking for that room. We have a total of five cars, for our three rooms. So that means we had to do something with two cars. Harvey's and Harrah's are now charging for parking, $20 a day, but Hard Rock has free parking. And as you enter the Harrah's parking lot from highway 50 with CVS on your left, the gates for the parking lot are up and inside behind the casino. So as you go up the driveway toward the paid parking and round the corner of the casino there are 15 to 20 spots that are outside the fee area and are free. So I have my part car parked there right now. If you go in that same entry and turn to the left there is a lot for CVS and another casino, but you can get towed if you park in there.

We were under red flag conditions for a couple of days, and the smoke was a little nuisance for one of those days.. Because of the red flag they turned off the barbecues, but they're back on now.

They are back to having some activities. The grandkids have done glass etching and scavenger hunt and Buddy bracelets so far.

Our first night was Friday night, we ate a late lunch, and went out at 8:30 to have dinner. We went to gunbarrel Pizza the wait was 2 hours! There was a band playing in the heavenly village plaza area, and there were people everywhere! So we walked up the street to stateline pizza and went downstairs and got right in. No ambiance, but at least we got to eat. The next night we ordered take out from gunbarrel and it was fantastic. We had pasta, Caesar salad, and garlic bread, and sat by the pool with our own adult beverages and had a great meal. There was still a band, and there was still a big crowd, and there was quite a lead time for a food, but we were prepared for that and it worked out perfect.

I'm doing this on my phone by the pool with a beer so pardon any syntax/spelling errors ;-)

Steve
