That is the hotel operator selling them for extra revenue.
Yes and at one time the Marriott hotel there did not effectively limit the number of day passes issued causing overcrowding at the shared MI / MVC pools.
This issue was raised by owners through MVC management and since then, when we have stayed anyway, that problem appears not to have reoccured as day pass numbers have been limited based on resort occupancy.

I did. You can't search day use because the words are too short.
Just type it in twice, or use BOTH “day use” & “day PASS” in same search

Note that day pass use when normally allowed is at the discretion of the resort and Covid may affect it. For example, one of our home resorts, Fairway Villas, has revoked day pass privileges due to social distancing requirements and numbers limitations. This is actually posted on their Resort Status page, so be advised....

Same thing at SurfWatch these days. Don uses their "gym" daily whenever we're at our home on the island and they've never had to limit Day Pass usage before, but now with COVID they're only allowing on-property owners/guests to use the amenities. That's the safest course for them to take right now, and honestly I'd rather that Don stay away until things settle down. They did tell him that they expect Day Pass usage to return then but in the meantime he's happy taking more bike rides than usual.
