Time to go through your pictures and find your favourite Church picture.

Here’s mine:

This is St. Joseph Church in Maui. I like this picture for its character. The Church has been closed for awhile. It’s on a lightly travelled road and has a very interesting cemetery.

Two more from Hawai'i. The first is the iconic church in Hanalei.

This one is on the north shore of the Big Island. I regard this as the most well-composed photo I've ever taken. There's a steep visual line starting on the bottom left that carries your eye upward, through the cross on the steeple and then further into the heavens and towards where the sunlight is coming from, out of the picture on the top right. The church is prominent, but yet is only a tool, like the palm tree, that points us heavenward. The small mass of dark gravestones on the lower right visually balances the large expanse of gray and white cloud in the upper left. So the vlsual masses are balanced on both sides of that vertical diagonal axis.

I wish I could say that I planned it that way. Not the case. We were driving by, and I thought the way the sunlight was hitting the church made a nice picture. Only when I was looking at the picture a few days later did I realize what I had captured. I actually took about five or six shots, some of just the church and sa couple like this, where I pulled back to get the tree into the picuture. I also shot from two different angles. I did do some cropping to enhance the verticality, as well as some color and balance adjustments.

Love that one. I have been there several times. Sometimes Rick misses the turn, even though he is trying to find it.

Probably the highlight of our Road to Hana tour. We have been back to Maui many times now but still haven’t gone back to it, Someday.

Not exactly a photo I took, but this hangs in our house. It's by local artist Fred Choate, and is called 'Attending Church in Idaho'.

Sometimes places like this are more spiritually uplifting than stone edifaces.

So many to choose from, I was going to skip responding, until I was "reminded" by Facebook where I was two years ago today in Scotland.

I give you the 16th century St. Mary's Church in Aberfeldy, Scotland. (There is a timeshare resort in this little village, that we simply adore! Been there twice in fact.)

Note to readers - if you don't see the photo in a post, you should see either a file name or perhaps a small rectangle icon. Right-click on that file name and then select, "Reload image". If it's a jpg file you may need to left click on the file name to get it to reload.

I love the way the stained glass casts light and shadows inside La Sagrada Familia in Barcelona.

Thank you, - especially since we're having to cancel our upcoming trip to Spain in May - including Barcelona and a stay about a block away from Sagrada Familia. Very beautiful, maybe someday in person.

The Sheldon Church ruins. A cast member at the Disney HH ressort mentioned them to me and I stopped by a few weeks ago. They’re located at the halfway point between HH and Charleston when driving the back way.
