I have two ongoing searches with RCI that I started in Nov 2018 to stay at the boulder ridge resort for flexible dates in Oct 2020. One search is pending with 55 points and the other is pending with 40 points. I don't care what I get as far as bedrooms as long as each can sleep at least 4 people. Trying to find out if these are enough points to get some type of room at this resort and / or if I would better off booking a search for any "Disney resort" vs a particular one? Thanks!

Until recently Saratoga was the only Dvc Resort that showed up in RCI. Recently Animal Kingdom and Old Key West have appeared. All were one bedroom that can sleep 4, never have seen a two bedroom. I have not seen Boulder a Ridge. Usually tpu value is between 45 and 55. Very rarely it will be 35.

Your 55 TPU week should have enough to pull a DVC. But, the issue will be you limiting it to Bolder Ridge. Add the other resorts. For me, when I am planning on on-site DVC exchange, add them all and take whatever you get.

I just booked Boulder Ridge for March - however, that was the only week available and it only by chance happened to match up with my travel dates. Also of concern was that it didn’t match my ongoing search but I found it through the resort directory search in RCI. The odds of it or any non-SSR resort appearing for your desired dates in October are very low. The non-SSR resorts seem to come up for a single date or two, whereas SSR tends to show up for a wide variety of dates. The sightings forum has a dedicated thread for DVC sightings and matches.

October is very popular with DVC members booking internally and the odds of Boulder Ridge showing up are slim to none. Definitely include all Disney resorts in your search and count yourself fortunate if you even get SSR during what DVC members affectionally call “fall frenzy”.

Anyone know how many TPU a unit at Sheraton desert oasis would pull in? I’m looking at a unit there and deciding on II or RCI (mainly for DVC)

IIRC, owners there get a random pre-deposited week when depositing to RCI, so there's no way to ensure that you deposit a high-season week. If my memory is correct, this would be a better trader in II than in RCI, where it now would have both Marriott and Starwood preference.

Also, my advice (which I realize you did not ask for) is: do not buy anything with the specific goal for trading into DVC. Things there have been very fluid for as long as I can remember, and the right way to exchange in (or even if you can) has varied substantially over that time.

Definitely use II for SDO. It's a great trader but not in RCI. Unless you can get a platinum week. There is an informative post where people posted the units that are platinum. They have to be certain unit #'s and of course the weeks are Christmas, New Year's week and spring weeks. Those are the weeks you want on your deed, and then maybe you could get enough for Disney. I doubt you would be happy with how much trading power that would take.

99.9 percent of DVC in RCI will be a 1BR at Saratoga Springs. Aim there.

SSR is currently undergoing extensive renovation that’s expected to last a couple of years, with entire buildings shut down at a time. That’s probably why AKL and OKW have begun to appear in RCI - they are almost as large as SSR and are not as sought after and booked up as early by owners as other DVC resorts e.g. Boulder Ridge. More excess inventory = more deposits to RCI.

So if you own a resort in Florida that exchanges in Florida with points in RCI can you not book DVC. Is that all Florida.? Or just Orlando/Kissimmee area?

From RCI Points Website:
"There is an area ownership restriction at this resort. If you made this reservation using points from an Orlando ownership or a resort within 30 miles of Disneyworld resorts in Orlando, it will be cancelled and you will be notified about rebooking a non-Disney property."

So a resort in Weston Florida is good to go?

Yes, Weston should be fine.
