Fixed week confusion

Hi
Am completely lost. My parents bought a timeshare with Vistana 8 years ago. I understand that its a Fixed week with a specific unit number. They have never used it. I have taken over and I've tried to bank the VOI but I've realised that there are "0" nights till 2023. In addition, the unit has been reserved for the next years but i can't seem to cancel. The part that really confuses me, i understand that every year for the week we own, someone actually stays in the unit and it isn't us and yet the credits for the unit seem to be lost.

Would appreciate any help if someone could advice:
1. How do i cancel the reservations for the Feb 2020, Feb 2021? Can i cancel?
2. How do i bank the VOI so i can do an external exchange?

Thank you so much!

You should be able to cancel online since it has s a home reservation. I just cancelled a Feb home reservation.

Surprised vistana couldn't help you, questions seem straightforward.

As for someone staying in your unit during your week ... you have a deadline to book by otherwise you lose it.

I've tried canceling 2020 and 2021, i got the same message "As a Fixed Week Owner, your vacation cannot be canceled. For assistance, please call Owner Services. ". My mom has tried calling them but it didn't seem to work either.

If you don't show up to the reservations, do they just let someone else use it? coz my mom received a mail from the "guest" that stayed during hwat was supposed to be our reservation saying they had a wonderful time???

That is odd because unless she decided to rent, she shouldn’t get an email. I would have yourMom forward.
There has been a delay in getting them on the phone.
if you send and email, they respond in 48hrs. I would send email and call as well.
If the unit is limited to RCI or Interval, you can request for an exchange through the Service . They will verify w/ Vistana availability.

@TheChubbs, did you ever have a chance to email Vistana to see if they could help you?
