Hello all
We are new owners of Westin Flex
They bought back our Westin Nanea timeshare (67,100) for what we paid for it originally.

Our maintenance fees went from $1200 to $1800.

Hopefully this purchase works out for us.

Any reply comments are welcome which is why I signed up here. We are relatively new to the Timeshare ownership.

How much did you pay extra and how many Westin Flex points do you have now?

Nanea studio???
There are no studios at Nanea.
Does this mean you originally bought 67,100 Nanea HomeResort Options?

Perhaps if you gave us more pertinent details - we can help.

Generally, it is a bad idea to throw good money after bad considering that you had to lay out more capital.

It could have been 67,100 Nanea resort view home options.

I updated my post, but effectively originally bought 5 days in a 1 Bd at Nanea?
That makes little sense.
iirc - 81K Nanea HOs was the minimum sold (at least in my update when Nanea was first sold).

Nanea is home points only. You do not buy any unit size. You buy a certain amount of points. Any amount of points, not necessarily corresponding to any unit size.

See above post - I thought the minimum Nanea HOs sold was 81K.

Regardless- likely throwing good money after bad. And, no details?
Except saving MFs - but no info on new money.

Let’s say they bought in $10K (absolute minimum - normally $20K) of new money - how long would it take for the MF saving to cover the new money?

Judging by the $1,800 maintenance fee, it is likely 81,000 Westin Flex purchase. How much did you pay for the "upgrade"?

I read the post as saying their MFs increased from $1200 to $1800, so there is no MF savings to cover the new money.

I am attaching two images. One, someone is selling 26k Every even year points for $100. Another, someone is selling 148k every off year points for $5,800, even though this is a pretty bad deal.
You likely severely overpaid. Rescind if you can. Where did you purchase, and what was the price of your TS?

I read it backwards (saving on MFs) which is typical reasoning for buying Flex and trading in ownership.

If not the case - then why do it?
Realizing they didn’t buy enough?

I wonder if the OP will follow up - often we never hear back with first time posters.

You are correct
Thankyou for correcting me. All of your replies are On Point

We purchased Nanea Home 67,100 in April of this year. It's paid in full.

Yesterday we sold it back for what we paid for and purchased Westin Flex for just under $14k

Why don’t you just rescind and spend $600 ($100 sales price plus $500 transfer fees) to get an extra 26k points every even year?

Yes we are still within the rescind period. Purchased yesterday

Rescind. Have both you and your SO, wife, or husband both sign the rescission letter. Unless the rescission instructions specify otherwise, send certified. Include a copy of the contract signature page, and the rescission letter should have the contract number. Everything reverts back prior to the purchase.

Rescind now before the time runs out. Since you don't know what you bought, suggest that you rescind now and take time to research. This deal will always be there (despite whatever the sales rep tells you). You will do much better with either buying more resale points, or buying a resale mandatory at WKORV north or south to augment your time in Hawaii. For $14k you could buy 2 - 3 IV weeks resale in the north or south properties. You might be able to buy a week of OV for that price.

Do not talk to the reps or sales office because they will try to talk you out of it to keep their commission. Mail exactly via the instructions in the contract and keep tracking info.

Would you buy a $14,000 car without researching it first?

Yes. You pretty much paid $14k for a new car, which one week later would be worth $4k as an “used car.”
