Wish we knew about these San Diego phenomena before our two week trip to Oceanside and San Diego.

We had a good time but more sunshine would certainly have been welcome.
I've lived in the San Diego "area" for over 30 years. Usually May Gray and June Gloom is something that affects the coast more than the inland areas. So, if you were staying at one of the timeshares in Oceanside, Carlsbad, Solana Beach, Capistrano, Newport Coast, San Diego, etc., you are more likely to be affected. Often the marine layer burns off mid day for a few hours or more. So, you start out the day with an overcast sky, it clears up, and then it goes overcast in the late afternoon. Typically, inland timeshares (like in Ramona or Escondido) are not particularly affected.

But this year has been unusual. I live close to Escondido (roughly 12 miles inland) and we sure have been having a lot of June Gloom and May Gray this year. Yesterday morning was the first time in the past 2 weeks when I woke up to sunshine. It is also possible to get this condition a little earlier and a little later.

Nice sunset and clear blue skies this morning. I tried to go to the beach last night but the line was long to get in the state beach lot at Huntington. Went up on Newport bluff park instead.

Ah well, two months we have to share with the touristas before the locals get our beaches back for secret summer.
