As I wait for Wild Oak Ranch EOYE, our 2020yr is booked. I understand I can book our points for future use which is 2021 in our case. So do I request a future match or just bank our points? We do want to visit our home resort but don’t have the vacation time until 2021.

If we did bank, could we use said points for a reservation for Maui in 2022? We do eventually want to go to Maui but unsure if we need to secure another TS for the points.

You cannot bank Hyatt points for future use in Hyatt. You can only transfer points to EEE, for future II exchanges.

So I have to use the week or move to EEE w/ the inability to trade into another Hyatt? I could possibly lose points if I trade into EEE as well?

You don’t lose the points if you move them to Interval. You just have to use them for an Interval exchange. Once they’re in Interval, though, you can’t exchange back into your home resort, or any other Hyatt.

If you have an EOY even, and your 2020 week is already booked, your next usage is 2022. You can access those points one year ahead of your use week. So if you own week 10 (say) with next use in 2022, you can access those points the first day of week 10, 2021. You can use those points to trade back in to your home resort, if something is available. You’d lose use of your owned unit in 2022 though.

Whether this works practically for you to take a vacation in 2021 at Wild Oak Ranch will depend on what week you own- if you own something early in the year, you might be able to book. But if you own later in the year, you’ll get access to your points too late to be of use to you.

So is it better to own in the first of the year instead of say Aug-Dec?

No it doesn’t really matter, it just depends on when you want to travel.

For the OP, she has an EOY with the next use in 2022. That means if she elects points, she gets them one year ahead of her owned week. So if she wants to travel in 2021, that’s doable if she has a week early in the year. Say she owns a Jan week, she gets her 2022 points in Jan 2021 and can therefore travel anytime in 2021. But if she owns a Dec week, she won’t get those points until Dec 2021 and can’t practically travel in 2021 because she won’t have any points until the last month of the year.
