I recently received a letter in the mail from this company. Had never heard of them before but in reading the letter I realized they are a timeshare exit company. But, there is a statement in their letter I thought I'd ask about. It states:

"....an owner who may be affected by new Timeshare Laws allowing developers to raise maintenance fees with no restriction. These new laws may also make it more difficult for owners such as yourself to get rid of your timeshare."

First, is anyone aware of any such timeshare law changes? Second, most contracts that I've seen have a clause that defines a top limit for how much maintenance fees can be increased year to year. Certainly any such law changes couldn't affect what's in a signed contract.

My apologies for posting this. I should have done a search first. I see there are several other threads about Newton Group Transfers.

Brian, is there a way for me to delete this thread before it distracts too many?

nothing wrong with the thread at all! if you had the question there are likely others who had it as well!

you can post up a link to whatever other thread on them you found that answered your question if you like so others can read too!

Wasn't there this bill that came into effect in Florida a few years ago?

Regardless, the general consensus here on TUG is to not engage the services of any of these cancel/exit/rescue/liberation companies. Especially now that, it seems, a lot of timeshare companies and resorts are starting to take paid-off timeshares back from owners who want out and this can be done without the services of these middle men.
