If you book your own timeshare for a 30 day or less stay, many cities are charging transient taxes as if timeshare owners don't own their properties & aren't already paying property taxes which are apportioned to all TS owners as part of their maintenance fees. Supposedly, if you book a 31 day or more stay, then the transient tax is not charged, because 31 day or longer stays are not transient stays. I consider the transient tax to timeshare owners as double taxation. Timeshare owners are not staying in hotels or motels, they are using their own 2nd or 3rd properties. Has this issue ever been challenged in court by any organizations or individuals? Just curious!
