My membership to both RCI and Interval have expired - so I need to rejoin one of them. I own at the Royal Sands in Cancun and the Lawrence Welk Resort in San Diego.

Any thoughts on which would be a better choice?

Are there any promos going on now?

Not taking your resorts into consider, just that you can use interval or RCI, based on my trading experience I have received better trades and many more requests filled with interval.

I think if you had one and let it expire the may charge you a fee above the regular fee to set it back up.

When I let my RCI membership lapse for a few years and then rejoined they used my old membership number and just charged me the regular membership fee, nothing above.

Not saying they will charge the fee. I saw another post the other day on tug were poster said they would have to pay More than $400+ to rejoin after letting there membership expire.

I just looked at their policies and it states:

With all the increased fees it wouldn't surprise me if RCI is now enforcing a reinstatement fee. Curious how long the other posters membership was lasped and if they let it lapse more then one time.

II has a similar fee in their guide, I have never known them to actually ever charge it.

You get basic II membership when you're a Welk Owner

Fees aside - I think which company to choose depends on where you want to go.

Example: I travel in New England a lot, there are not many high end resorts in the area and RCI has many more options and units to choose from. With their TPU system I can usually squeeze 2 maybe 3 weeks out of one deposit for New England trades.

But, when we travel outside of New England on bigger vacations I want a high end resort and for that II gets my week.

Even with this said, I don't believe I will be depositing with RCI anymore. I will keep my membership for Extra Vacations though.
