Hawaii Vacation and hawaiian miles

I am booked for 2017 in ohau and looking at my Hawaiian airline miles and I am short. Does anyone has account with them? the miles are pricey in the web.

any other advice to get better price _award flights?

Miles can only be transferred within a household and cannot be bought or sold.

You can apply for an Hawaiian Air MasterCard, spend $1,000 and get 50,000 miles.

The 35K offer is one of their offers - there is also one for 50K miles.

I'm sorry, but you cannot solicit miles on TUG.

I totally understand that. just looking for advice where to buy for better price (like resale miles) ..any web?

I do not believe that you can "legally" buy miles except from Hawaiian Air.

You could go ahead and book your out-bound flight, and then book your in-bound flight later.

You don't have to fly both ways on the same airline, if it works out better to fly home on another airline.

thanks Denise.. I though about that but the scary part is the miles keep going up per week.

I might have to use 2 airlines.

one way Hawaiian and one way maybe AA or United .


There is a website that legally sell miles but still is pricey . I will hold until mid august to see if my new points transfer from Barclay to HA.

If you are definitely going - there is no reason not to book your outbound flight, to make sure you get it.

Then you can work on the in-bound flight later.

We have done it this way for years.

See if any of your hotel points (if you have any) can be transferred to Hawaiin Air. I know Hilton Honors will transfer to several airlines - for a fee like all things Hilton.

With VSE/Starwood - you can convert to Starpoints, and then to airline miles, IF you bought from the developer - but not resale.

If you happen to have American Express Member Rewards points those can be converted to many airline miles, including Hawaiian. They convert 1:1 for Hawaiian Miles.

Other airlines allow you to purchase their frequent flyer miles, but usually very expensive so it not cost effective.

I am going to BI this December and I use Alaska airlines almost free companion ticket. We have two of this credit cards and get 2 free tickets every year.

Keep watching the HA website. I've seen miles requirements drop before.

You should use Flying Blue to Hawaii. You can get to Hawaii for 25k miles. You will end up flying on Delta metal. Flying Blue is a transfer partner of Chase, Citi, Starwood, and AMEX. DM me if you want more details.

Hawaiian Airlines program is becoming a lot less friendly. My trip to Honolulu on 01/07/17 returning on 01/31/17 priced out as follows:

2 RT tickets $1,394 in cash or

2 RT tickets 40,000 miles + &1,400.

What a ripoff.

Not to take this thread off topic, but this is why I only use Hawaiian miles to hop between islands. Flights to/from the mainland are way too expensive on HA using just miles. (And their annual $100 discount perk from the credit card is not a good value, since their fares are higher than they should be.) Island hopping on HA can still be done for reasonable numbers, (e.g.7500 miles one way, on certain flights.)

I like to vacation on two islands, and use Alaska Air to go to/from the Mainland, because of their Companion fare on their credit card. I book a multi-city trip, into one island, and home from the second island. Hawaiian Air miles are used for the island hop in between. It works pretty well, and makes use of my HA miles.

I'm interested in how to do this. I will admit to having VERY LITTLE knowledge about how to use points for miles.. This is my next thing to start studying,
