I just wanted to send a note of thanks to all of you on this board, for giving me such sound advice and helping me figure out what I wanted to purchase, and how to go about it without losing my shirt.

Just before Thanksgiving I signed a contract to buy my first ever point package, after several months of scouring the advice on TUG, mostly here on the HGVC board. I learned so much from you all, and while I don't think I was ever really in danger of buying retail at a presentation, when I finally jumped I felt totally secure in the knowledge that I had thoroughly researched my options before taking the plunge.

My spouse knows that we passed ROFR, but he doesn't know that the deed came in the mail last week. It's now in a very big box (that weighs very little), wrapped in beautiful paper, and sitting under our tree.

For those of you who celebrate it--Merry Christmas. And Happy New Year, with much gratitude for all the help!

Congrats! Do you have plans for your first trip with your points! My 8 yo is getting a surprise trip to Orlando under the tree. I wrapped up a box with balloons in it with our itinerary. Merry Christmas!

Congrats,
Make sure you are sure what years points came with it and if you have to "save" any points before the end of this year. It would be a shame to start off your membership by losing them.

Welcome to the "club", use it well.

Haven't decided yet, but we do have a trip with extended family to Kings Land planned for August, using points from a VIP package we bought during a presentation. If our account is set up in time, we may aim for Vegas on Dr. King's birthday weekend.

I'm pretty sure that the 2015 points were spent, but I'll call them first thing on Monday to make sure they got the deed and to press them to complete the transfer before the fees go up at the end of the year. Thanks for the reminder!

Congrats!

I started my Kings' Land purchase at the end of September and the seller is taking forever to move the paper work. So, no deed under the Christmas tree for me.

I hope you enjoy the ownership...

I took a 12yo nephew several years ago to WDW/AKV for MLK week by giving him a surprise box "stacked" with Disney hints on Christmas morning. He finally understood WHAT was "the gift" and it was not just the "AKV tee shirt" and the Disney autograph/book ... the last one was his Magic Express ticket ... which was the "YOU are GOING to Walt Disney World" pronouncement ... he was STUNNED and SHOCKED!

Enjoy the trip ... take plenty of pictures. And make a photo book ... for YOURSELF.

Thank you! And the balloons were a big hit. She also got the Disney trinkets for hints: pins, tshirt, tsum tsums, etc. Thanks for autograph book reminder too. We have an aggressive game plan with DisneyQuest, Epcot, MK, AK, Legoland and Busch Gardens. Plan to come home exhausted. She's already packing.

And back to original post - HGVC Seaworld is a great resort. We stayed there for Seaworld and it has some great Seaworld perks for guests.

Do you mind sharing with us how much you paid for that?

Not sure if you were asking me, or one of the other posters, but my 4800 Plat. Sea World was purchased on eBay for $2500, and it passed ROFR.

My account was online less than two weeks after the deed was recorded -- even with the intervening Christmas holiday. I think the fact that we had purchased a VIP package at a presentation, recently, might have expedited the account set-up, because when I called to check on it, the agent mentioned that she saw that we'd booked Kings Land with our VIP Package points.

Remember if your vacation dreams are bigger than your annual points allotment, you can always borrow points from the next year. This has been a great strategy for us over the years.

No word yet on what day in 2016 they are closing which is why DisneyQuest is the first stop on our tour. I was a little nervous about it since Disney showed no times available at DisneyQuest in 2016 until about a week ago. I was hoping to get one last visit especially since I still have some no expiration tickets with admission to DisneyQuest included. No Harry Potter - my 8 yo has no interest yet. Which is a little disappointing since I love Harry Potter and have a set of the Harry Potter books ready and waiting. She loves to read so it's just a waiting game :)

Heck, you clearly know how to find a deal. I'd buy another timeshare.

I may do that, if I can find a good deal on another 4800 or 7000 contract at a low-fee property before they start exercising ROFR, again!
