We are staying @ the Residence Inn New York Manhattan/Times Square starting Sat. We are meeting friends that will be at other hotels in the area.
Does anyone know of a good meeting place close by that we can have lunch and spend some time catching up?

Really, any major hotel lobby or bar will be fine. Do you have a specific requirement in the meeting place?

How about the fountain at Bryant Park? That's a block or so away from your hotel. If you are looking for something in/around Times Square itself, you could meet on the raised seating area right in the middle of times square. This is between Broadway and 7th at 47th Street.

You are looking for a lunch spot for a group of you, right?....I would toss Carmine's on 44th street into the mix. Great family style Italian food, and for a group of people, its a nice cost effective (for NYC) way to go.

HERE is a link to their Trip Advisor page.

You will likely want to get a ressie.

And if you are looking for a show to attend, we were in the City last weekend and saw Something Rotten and really enjoyed it.

Carmine’s is great but it might be a little tough to get in this time of year. I would also recommend Rosie O’Grady’s at 800 7th Ave, The Algonquin Hotel 59 W 44th, The St Regis 2 E 55th at 5th Ave and Oceana at 120 W 49th. All within walking distance although you might want to cab it to the St Regis.

The Algonquin would be my #1 choice. It’s a little pricy with a glass of wine going for about $15 plus tip. Rosie's would be the least expensive. Oceana will have the best food and the two hotels are great for just sitting and chatting.

There is a nice French bistro called Rue 57 on 57th Street. The ambience is cosmopolitan and you'll feel like you are in NYC. The variety of foods is quite high here with decent sushi as well. Prices are reasonable for this area of town and the decor is upscale. Recommended. Gets good reviews on TripAdvisor.

Landmarc at the time Warner center is a good place to relax. Pretty holiday lights and music thing also.

The Campbell apartment at grand central.

Brickyard gastropub. 9th and 52.

Take the 1 to Bowling Green, walk through Battery Park and the beautiful seaglass carousel and go to Pier A harbor house.

Thanks for recommendations. I put the info for each place in my phone so we will be able to try several while in NYC. I read the reviews on each of the suggestions and every one looks good. I already have tickets for Something Rotten so glad to hear you enjoyed it. Sounds like a good time in NYC.... we are on our way!

You will LOVE Something Rotten - many, many references to other shows, past and present. We saw it a couple of months ago. As for easy places to eat, and reasonable - if you walk WEST from the Marriott Marquis in Times Square, in one more block you will be at Restaurant Row - every single building is a restaurant! Go check out their web page. Besides the usual tree an Rockefeller Center, etc, - try to get into the Metropolitan Museum of Art - and see the incredible tree there. Surrounding the bottom is a beautiful Neapolitan creche - and there is The American Wing, The Temple of Dendur, and many other beautiful places. We love the Gubbio Studiolo - an inlaid-wood fool-the-eye masterpiece! There is no shortage of great art to see in NYC - we live just upstate, and never ever run out of great things to see and do. If you want to see the Klimt "Lady in Gold" (Adele Bloch-Bauer) then get over to the Neue Gallerie - and have apiece of torte! And there will be concerts everywhere - just plan to be everywhere early. Be patient - there will be LOTS of people everywhere - it's New York, after all. We are staying away to give all the visitors room to roam - it will be nice a quiet later on.

Sorry, I just realized that you were looking for a lunch place. I read this as a request to just have a meet spot to then get on with your day. My post above obviously doesn't make sense. I don't know how I did that now that I just re-read your question. I hope you enjoyed the weekend though.
