I was wondering if anyone has stayed here how far are you to drive to the sights in Yellowstone? Have people who stayed here driven every day and are there things to do in the surrounding area besides Yellowstone?

How are the units?

Any idea of weather the first week or 2 in October?
Thanks

I own there. It's 22 miles from the entrance to the park. Then from the entrance it's about 30 to Old Faithful, or maybe a bit more to Canyon. Speeds are fairly slow (45 mph limit) and stops to see wildlife. Many drive is daily, some just do 2-3 days inside the park and other days outside seeing the sights. There is plenty to see/do. October will be chilly- you won't be doing any river float trips, but horseback rides could be great. Drive along Henry's Fork (it comes out of the ground whole just 3 miles from the resort at the appropriately named 'Big Springs') Some great waterfalls, Harriman State Park is close to the resort, but may be open reduced hours in Oct.

I like the units. They are well equipped- in a Western kind of way. No Internet and basic cable TV. There is a central BBQ area.

By Oct, the crowds will be thinned out and wildlife will be down from the high country, making for better viewing. It's a pretty time of year there.
