Hello,

My ex-husband and I own a timeshare but I was awarded it in the divorce. I need to have the TS transferred in my name and would like to do it on my own but do not know how to go about it. The TS is Liki Tiki Village in Orange County FL. I know the quit claim deed needs to be filed in that county. Does anyone have a link to the proper document online or any information that can help?

Thank you in advance!

Our local library had quick claim forms. U need both signatures notarized. Make sure you have the names
right I would call ts management first to find out the exact way it was signed originally. Then it a matter of getting original to county and copies to the ts management.
They may also have a fee for doing this. Start with calling
ts people.

A quick Google search brought this up:

https://www.deeds.com/recorder/florida/orange/

Looks like good information and for a $20 fee seems to provide a package with everything you need.

If you have the original deed into your names, you could probably use that and prepare it. I'd personally pay the $20 in case there's been format or content changes, but to each their own.

Welcome to TUG. Hopefully you will get what you need here and if you're keeping your timeshare, come on back with any other questions about timesharing in general or your resort, etc.

You may not have a deed. What you may have is a copy from the county or ts showing the transfer to your name has taken place. Has what book, record number, etc.
The ts may have also. I sent for minr

I don't think deeds are a do it yourself project - it's a legal document that must be prepared and recorded legally with the county, and the resort. If it gets messed up, it can cause a lot of problems, and cost a lot more money, in the long run.

You can get a professional deed preparation and transfer for around $150. This is who I use:

In the case of a divorce, $150 sounds like a real bargain to me!

Thank you for all of your advise. I have a copy of the original warranty deed recorded in Orange County. I agree $150.00 is not too much to spend for the peace of mind of knowing it is correct. I emailed LT Transfers today but have not heard back yet.
