I'm planning my 2017 Maui trip for my family. Last time we were there we spent 13 days in a Lahaina Ocean Front room. It was very nice but very expensive, a little over 14,000 DC Points. This time I want to make my points go a little further so we're exploring the Ocean View/Garden View/Island View.

Does anyone have pictures from each of these view types?

From what I gather of when we anticipate to go, points would be the following for a 2 bedroom:
OF - 8650
OV - 7620
MG - 6425
IV - 5450

So as you can see, there's a significant discount from OV to IV. For the same amount of points, I can get 3 more days of IV compared to OV. It is very appealing.

Is there really a bad view in the Napili/Lahaina towers? I'd love to see if anyone has any pictures. Our goal is to spend 12-14 days there. I think I should have 14000 points available again for this trip and I want to get the best value out of it.

Steve,

I would look hard at the Mountain Garden view category in Lahaina Villas -- the units on the south side that are higher floor have a nice ocean view. I have pictures somewhere and will forward to you. You will have a great time!

Best,

Greg

Steven,

This is not exactly on point, but it gives the idea. This is the view from the top floor of the garage -- about the same as the fourth floor in a Mtn Garden, which is the lower unit directly ahead of you (4213).

Those corner units are Mtn Garden all the way to floor 10, and the adjacent unit (4211) goes up to floor 6 as Mtn Garden. My friend stayed in a 5th floor corner unit and it had a nice ocean view from the balcony. From the living room within the unit, he looked at the Hyatt building, but this is a decent point stretch opportunity. If you pick Ocean View unit, you have basically the same view higher up, or if on north side, you look at Lanai wing of original MOC building, plus the angled ocean view.

Best,

Greg

Here is an old picture of an ocean view condo in the Lahaina tower. This was from a model unit in April 2005.

The second floor garden/mountain view has very little ocean view as you can see here. This is also from the parking structure so from the last condo on the side of the tower. Greg showed the higher floor already that has a much better ocean view.

6th floor island view in Napili Tower (from 2011 during a bit of a dry spell in Maui):

I know you'd still wind up with a view of the parking garage, but I don't think it's as bad as some make it out to be. You still have a beautiful view of the island.

I am sure from all I read that there must be far worse Parking garage views.
I have to say though that if I was allocated this as an Island/Mountain/Garden view (or whatever it is described as), I would be more than pleased.

I agree with this recommendation. The mountain/garden views in the new towers would be in Lahaina Villas, as Napili does not have that view classification.
