In the light of government advice (such as that issued by HK government amongst others. not to travel to Thailand following this weeks bombings, what is the position vis-a-vis upcoming Interval reservation for September?

If I cancel or retrade, I will presumably be limited only to flexchange destinations, despite the fact that if I had purchased a non-refundable hotel it would be refunded given the government instruction to avoid travel?

Any thoughts on what Interval's position is likely to be? My SO is very uncomfortable with our going given the bombing.

Right now, the US State Department has not yet issued a travel warning for Thailand. My University only has regional travel restrictions in place for provinces farther south of Phuket (including Pattani, Narathiwat, Songkhla, and Yala) as well as parts of the border with Cambodia. So, if we had e.g. a student group who wanted to travel to Phuket, we would not require anything beyond the usual safety plan on file. I would personally still go. However, my wife would probably not, so it's not always up to me!

You might try calling Interval and see if they will waive the flexchange restriction for you given the current circumstances. But, they might need a US DoS warning/restriction in place to do that.

And again, we will be in Phuket from October.
Yes, the events in Bangkok are very sad and as always with any of our travels we will be cautious, but we have no worries.

my Brother lives in Phuket along with his thai bride to be (she happens to be one of the many Royal family members). His daughters will be traveling there within the next week or so. We are not worried but cautious.
