Just wanted to share...I recently acquired two week 51 units( usually Christmas week) on marco island from a fellow tugger. I decided to check out how it would trade on interval as most years I will probably use one and trade the other..A few years back I cancelled my rci membership because my New Hampshire late summer week 34 had low trading value on rci. To my surprise the marco island week has lower trading value on interval then my New Hampshire week. Rci is giving it a much better value thus I now reopened my rci account. I still will keep my New Hampshire week with interval as it trades for great trades. I recently traded it easily for a summer week on sanibel island at tortuga and a July 4th week at a marriot at royal palms Orlando. Amazing as it has little worth on rci. I've always preferred interval but they are not getting my marco island week. Glad I did my homework and will get the best value for my trades. On a different note rci is much more fair when you have to cancel an extra vacation, they give you back a percentage of what you paid. Unfortunately interval does not for a getaway or accomodation certificate trade. I always knew they didn't for a getaway but I contacted them as I probably will not be able to use a week that I got with an accomodation certificate. Interval told me I can cancel but would forfeit what I paid and would not get another accomodation certificate. So if I cancel they make more money and I get zero.

Are you new weeks studios? I have a float ski week studio that I try to reserve for week 51 or 52. I get about 40 tpu's with RCI- pretty decent. I can get a fairly good prime season two bedroom at many resorts with RCI. With II, I can't even pull a 2 br in Williamsburg outside of late November through early March. I could pull 2-3 May Williamsburg weeks with this studio in RCI.

For the most part even a big name gold or platinum studio in II has less pull than a shoulder season no name no status 2 br unit.

I have an II and RCI account and enjoy them both. II has a ton of great getaway options but have never found a RCI Extra Vacation that interests me. II gives me a kot of ACcommodation Certificates Which RCI doesn't offer. I've also had some some great trades with II plus option to retrade easily. I held on to a Tortuga Beach Club August trade for several months and then retraded not too long ago for a 2 bed at Lakeshore Reserve since my daughter wanted to stay in Orlando. I wonder if you got the Tortuga I turned back in-looked like an awesome resort.

Still being a bit of a newbie with II, how can you search with your week with out depositing it?

Both II and RCI have their benefits...I belong to both, but II gets my Foxrun week every year because I get awesome trades with it. You just have to know what trades better in each if the resort is dual-affiliated.

Run your search and when you are asked which unit you're using to trade, select your undeposited unit. The program will ask for your reservation number and date. Just make up a number. I use any six digits and it always works.

If searching with Starwood you don't have to deposit or make up dates and a confirmation number. If you want to do an ongoing search or confirm something you see online, you need to have already paid MF's for that unit. If you already have dates confirmed you can search online but before confirming or setting up an OGS you will need to cancel you reserved dates. This is different than all other groups that exchange in II. The others require you to have dates reserved. Starwood does not allow an exchange with dates reserved.

Tschwa2-the Marco island weeks are one bedrooms and interval lists them as limited inventory. Interval even acknowledged they hardly ever get this resort.

Weimaraner- was the tortuga week was for 8/26 to 9/2/16, if so I got it, thanks!

I actually like that rci shows me everything available in open inventory and I can decide if I want to combine my weeks to get the ones that have higher trade value. Interval decides what I see in open inventory and what is comparable. I would like to have the choice .
