DH hates our toaster and I want to get him a new one for Father's Day. I want a toaster for household use--usually only one person makes toast at a time so I don't need anything commercial or large. I want it to toast evenly and consistently.

Our 3 year old granddaughter was visiting last week and decided she wanted toast. She was running around the kitchen asking where was the toast machine. Didn't know she knew the word "machine." :)

Bumping up. Does no one have a household toaster you like?

I have an Oster. White. Can't say it's the latest greatest, but it's OK. Mine is a 4 slice 'tandem'- 2 long slots, not 4 short ones. Does thick stuff too, like bagels/ hand-cut bread. There's a 'brownness' knob on the side that I occasionally forget to set and the el cheapo supermarket french bread gets burnt, or the 'good' thick artisan bread is too 'blond' after a cycle, but all in all, for the price, I'm not getting another one soon. My only beef- it has no 'feet' on the bottom, so sliding it out of it's garage, it makes a horrible, 'fingernails on chalkboard' scraping sound.

Just bought a new Hamilton Beach four slice toaster on sale at Sears. So far I really like it. It has electronic controls and seems to toast evenly. It can also toast buns or bagels on one side only.

We have a KitchenAid and I don't really care for it. It does an ok job, but it seems really inconsistent.

KitchenAid 2 wide slots, with a bagel button, must be 6 or so years old. One it replaced didn't brown the toast without x2 push down cycles, don't recall brand of that one.

yep, no toaster.

I did wonder what uses besides "household"??

As opposed to more commercial type appliances that have become popular in homes. I just want a brave little toaster. :hysterical:
