We were solicited via phone with an offer from TransWestern Group in Billings Montana, followed by a resale proposal offer emailed the same day. I have been unable to find any information other than their website which is somewhat vague with respect to their mission. Any other Wyndham owners or others have any feedback? It has been my experience that any cold calls or mail offers are scams with varying degrees of deception and presentation. Thanks for any info anyone may have:confused:

Never heard of 'em, but...

It has been my experience that any cold calls or mail offers are scams with varying degrees of deception and presentation.

Wise and truthful words, so no sense preaching to your choir...;)

The resale market is tough (...at best) right now, so you know already that the odds of some completely unknown entity just suddenly appearing out of a clear blue sky with a legitimate "offer" are somewhere squarely between very slim and none. We would all like for there to be magic in the air, but it just ain't so.

Coming next will surely be a request for a "title search" fee, maybe even allegedly reimbursable later (...just try and find us...) or some other such nonsense requiring you to pay upfront money. That, of course, is the point at which to crank up the jog into a full scale run --- in the other direction.

Additional TransWestern info

I suspected as much - their pitch states: "We at TransWestern Group do not charge any upfront fees only a 5% commission form the sale proceeds afterclosing, upon receipt and confirmation of the full proceeds of the sale."

Knowing that there is limited market for Wyndham "points", my approach is to simply keep using the weeks in the best way I can to otherwise offset the cost of a place to stay at the time we are staying. The maintenance fees amount to a monthly payment for those accomodations.

Thought I would at least post to see if others have been solicited and how the process evolves before the reality of the scam becomes evident. Thanks for the reply

The BBB has opened an investigation of another company suspected of being a scam outfit and Transwestern Group is listed as being a related company.

BBB's file just opened in March 2012. Rated an F currently as they have not been able to verify the business. Also states that the LLC is not registered in the state of Montana.

Thanks fellow TUGGERS for the quick and informative response. The initial purpose of my post was not only my own curiousity, but to get the name and approach out into the TUG forum for the benefit of others who may be more trusting. The conventional philosphy and guidance "if it sounds too good to be true, it is too good to be true" applies. Like spam email, if they only get a few suckers, they got money and move on to the next scam. Thanks again!
