I traded into the Westgate Park City. The day before we left for Park City my wife got a call from the resort. They wanted to make sure the room was ready when we arrived.

I called when we arrived and that was my biggest mistake. I used the Park City chamber of commerce "ski the first day free" pass and blew out my knee before I checked in. While I was checking in the " VIP" rep helped us check in. She went to the room with us as part of the VIP service.

I was in a wheel chair. She wanted to know all about my timeshares. She insisted that I schedule a time for a review. I tried being polite and ignored her advances.

She was persistent and insisted she wasnt selling anything and that she could loose her job if we wouldn't let her fill out her form. I told her I thought her non sales pitch was overwelming and that she seemed like a used car salesman. She wasn't offended at the time and insisted it would only take a few minutes.

To get the pit bull off my bad leg I reluctantly agreed and she came up telling us how great the resort is and that we would probably never be lucky enough to trade into the resort ever again. We tried to explain to her that we weren't interested in buying any more timeshares under any circumstances.

She never did offer to sell us any of the special units that she had, but I'm sure she sells a lot of them.

My advice to anyone receiving a call from the resort is other than confirming that you are arriving is to tell them to leave you alone, and not to bother you under any circumstance except if ther is a fire or your life is in danger from someone other than them.

Andy.

Nothing new there. Wastegate (& Wyndham, and others) has used a "survey", "unit check", "maintenance check" and, a Wastegate specialty, the rdie to the unit "to make sure everything is OK". All excuses to sign you up for a sales torture - never fall for any of it. It's your vacation - let the weasels bug people on company time.

I Resemble That Remark.

All week the Wyndham folks have been inviting us to what they're calling an "RCI Survey." We're here on RCI Last Call, so their pitch is based on saying Wyndham bought out & took over RCI & made major changes that we need to know about. Promised reward is $100 + 3 days & 2 nights somewhere.

We've been saying No Thanks.

This morning they upped the offered freebies to $125 -- "Manager's Special."

We still said No Thanks.
