Just booked WPORV for my family of 6 for next July. Our kids are young so we've enjoyed the first floor at WKORVN for years. What is the best building to request close to the main pool or ocean view from a lower floor at WPORV? Do the first floor units have fenced in lanais? What buildings have parking lot views? Thanks.

The map can be found on owner resources - http://www.tugbbs.com/forums/showpost.php?p=538068&postcount=4

To me, wporv is not about ocean front views, since it is on a cliff. If you ask for a pool view, it should be much easier to get than building 6 or 7 top floor ocean view. We stayed in building 2 overlooking the kids pool. We couldn't have asked for a better location for our family.

If your kids are really young, buildings 1, 2 and 3 are closest to the kiddie pool. The larger pool is not far from that. I think the best thing about those buildings is the great grilling area right there by the pool. Ground floor lanais are not fenced and are pittifully small--just large enough for 2 chairs in each unit. Building 5 has parking lot views on one side but they also have Bali Hai views, depending on the floor. Building 4 is next to a parking lot but there are no rooms on that side, only on the golf course side. However, that building is the farthest from the pools.

Since you cannot request specific units, my advice is to get there early in the day, take a walk around the development and ask the desk clerk what you would be happy with. They will do the best they can, but with SPG priorities ahead of you, they cannot always satisfy.

The buildings are generally perpendicular to the ocean so views on opposite sides of each building will be different. In my opinion, the worst rooms are the ones between buildings 6 and 7 as those look at each other across a lawn. I've never done this but will attempt to attach a jpg file that shows the building locations from the air. It may help.

Thanks. Also we are looking for a few cool beaches with easy access and small waves for the kids. We've been to Maui the last 4 years and are ready to venture out.

So building 1 does not face parking lot? Hard to tell from map.

Building 1/A has units that face out from all sides of the building, so some face the parking lot, and some face inward toward the resort. The gray areas are parking lots.

I would ask to avoid building 1, as I think there is too high a risk of getting a parking lot view.
