All,

I've noticed something a little interesting about some of my II deposits -- my Marriott deposits (against which I have active searches) -- when I hit My Units under the Exchange button, it gives me the opportunity to "Review Request" only.

And yet I have a couple Worldmark weeks that I've space banked and not yet started a search against. When I do the same thing, they say "Place Request" (as expected) but then right below "Place Request" they say "Extend". When I hit the "Extend" button, out of curiosity, it gives me the opportunity to extend them for 3/6/12 months, for a fee.

But I don't see the same ability to Extend my Marriott deposits (which I'd really like to Extend -- and keep the Marriott preference, which is valuable).

Does anyone see the "Extend" button for their Marriott deposits?

Thanks very much!

Greg

I don't have any Marriotts deposited but do remember seeing that button. It is probably just an online system issue.

However, extended deposits have restrictions similar to replacement weeks (i.e. limited ot flex exchanges). You can extend a deposit 3 months after the deposit expires, so you may want to wait to extend until you find an available exchange.

I think that once you have an ongoing request that you lose the other options. The same is true that you can't extend without a deposit.

I mentioned this option earlier this year or even late last year. Yes, I have seen this option with my Marriott weeks. I did not take advantage of it, but did find it an interesting option in the event I ever need it.

This is consistent with what my account shows.

My account shows the button for Foxrun weeks that have no requests, but does not show up for those that are not deposited yet or have a request pending.

It makes sense that you can't extend online if a request is pending since the exchange is limited to flex time.

We currently have two Grande Vista weeks on deposit. One has an ongoing request against it and the other doesn't. The one with the request only has two options; Vacation Exchange and Review Request. The one that doesn't have the request against it has more options; Vacation Exchange, ShortStay Exchange, Place Request, Extend.

I guess a call to II is necessary to extend that wee with the deposit against it. Thinking about it more, you would have to cancel the request anyway since you can't place a request for a checkin date after the deposit expiration date.

I think with the restrictions placed on extended deposits, it really isn't a good deal. Pay a lot of money to get lower benefits from the deposit. I wonder if they continue to have the Marriott preference.

My impression is that the extended weeks do have the Marriott preference, but not sure.
I did need to extend a week actually not once but twice; the second time, which is not generally allowed, they did as a concession to extending my II membership. We ultimately made good use of the week though.

I don't have a deposit available to check for an extension but I do see where I can now extend an AC. Hadn't seen that before.
