Is there such a thing as a Luther Pro 2000? (I googled and see nothing).

Back story - a cousin bought a clarinet from a music store (going out of business) for her granddaughter, who did not want it. It's brand new, never out of the case. She now wants to sell it (via Ebay ?)

There seem to be no identifying marks on it, apart from the name LutherPro2000 on one piece.

Can anyone tell me more ? If it is a no name cheapie brand, what are the chances of getting some money for it, and about how much might one expect? I'd like to help her as much as I can.

Thanks in advance.
Irene

Unfamiliar With Luther Pro 2000 Clarinets.

Is there such a thing as a Luther Pro 2000?
Never heard of it, sorry.

Not only that, Luther Pro did not show up in any eBay Musical Instruments category just now.

If it's a wooden clarinet, it might not be cheap junk.

If it's not only a no-name but also plastic, then I'm guessing it is cheap junk.

Then again, the fact that it came from a music shop & not from eBay or a Florida flea market might mean something, I don't know.

What do the music stores & clarinet teachers in town say about the Luther Pro 2000 ?

Full Disclosure: I wheel & deal plenty in French horns, but I am not all that knowledgeable about clarinets. Still, if it's a totally unknown brand rather than a recognized make like Selmer, Leblanc, Buffet, Noblet, Conn, Yamaha, Amati, etc., or even Bundy & Vito (student-line clarinets), then odds are it's nothing much. (But I could be wrong. If so, it wouldn't be the 1st time.)

Unfortunately, I have to agree with Alan. This is a name I've never heard of - and if you google "Luther" and "Clarinet" the only things that come up are this thread, and a few music stores with address containing "Luther."

If it was a decent, but not well known brand, something should pop up.

On the off chance it is simply not a well known brand, she might take it to another music store, and see what they say. She might risk te embarrassment of the proprietor knowing she hasn't a clue, but they're used meeting parents in the same boat on a regular basis. Our local shop has a sign at the desk indicating which brands they won't even touch to repair, they are so bad. They take pride in their work, and guarantee it. They won't guaranteed work on an instrument that isn't worth fixing.

Sorry she got taken. You have to be particularly careful when shops go out of business - nobody's reputation is at stake.

Thanks Alan and Mel. I do concur. Now unfortunately I have to tell her, which I really feel badly about doing.
