I usually do a PFD of one of my beach weeks for 38K but now it costs 49K to trade back in around the same time. :annoyed: I also did another 3 week in deposit of a unit elsewhere and they are giving me the full 36.5K worth of points for it despite the short deposit time. It hasn't shown up in my account yet so maybe the guide made a mistake, but I thought they dinged you with such a short deposit with PFD.

I don't get it?

I thought that RCI points were pretty static. They're acting like TPU's now.
Not sure if that's good or bad. Anyone have any weird PFD or exchange experiences since the "enhancement"? :crash:

I really don't understand points. I have them. I deposit into my points account. I have even made 2 reservations with them.

But, I still don't understand them. And I frequently cannot find anything that can use.

Right now, i have a Hilton Club reserved for a 4 day trip at Valentine's. Ian has told me he doesn't want to go.

Different Ways Points Work?

I think that there are a variety of way that Points work. I own two weeks at Sedona Pines and one week at Oakmont in Tennessee. My points are automatically deposited at RCI and if I want to stay at my home resorts, I have to book through RCI. I always get the same amount of points every year.

I have friends that own at a resort in Hawaii. It seems like they have to talk to the resort and ask to have the points put into RCI. However, I think the amount of points they get are fixed as well.

Although my two Sedona Pines weeks are floating weeks good 52 weeks of the year I don't get the same amount of points for them. For one I get 52,500 and for the other one I get 44,500. However, the points to book a unit vary by quite a bit throughout the year. I think this is reflected in the variance in my points. I think the 52,500 represents a very popular week and the 44,500 is more typical.

I actually use all my points to stay in Colorado for skiing.

So turns out that I'm only getting 14.5K for my short deposit. Apparently the guide was looking at a previous PFD that I did and quoting me those points. I don't think so but whateverrrrr. :crash:

I've enjoyed my points over the years but mostly used them for the 6500-9000 point stuff. I guess now that TPUs exist they are losing value except for of course stuff like you're getting like Hilton Club for 4 days. Too bad he doesn't want to go but I think I understand why. Way too cold. Brrrrrrrr.

I agree with you on the regular RCI points. My RCI points week hasn't changed, it's the points for deposit weeks that are all over the place. It's like they are floating with the TPU's somehow. They still give you a fixed deposit amount but the exchanging part has gone up, at least for the weeks that I've seen so now I don't think there is any point in doing PFD and trying to book into weeks resort like before. I'll just leave them in weeks and use the points for the strictly points inventory.

Maybe Elaine needs to tell Ian that going out into the cold isn't exactly what she had in mind for Valentine's with him!

(Where is the emoticon with the eyebrows going up and down suggestively???!)
