Hi New Orleans lovers. I’m going to NO over Labor Day for the Garth Brooks concert with girlfriends. We have some guy friends joining us that are not going to the concert and have never been to NOLA.

We are all staying at my beloved La Belle Maison so they will be near the Quarter.

We will spend some of the 4 days together, but not every minute. Some of us will be at the concert on Saturday from 5:30-10:30 but not the guys. They are arriving about 3pm Saturday and want to give them some suggestions for their first evening in town knowing I can’t help them till after 10:30 pm. What are suggestions for what I should guide them to? I’ve been to NOLA a lot and usually only go to eat and ride the streetcar now. If you have suggestions for restaurants that is cool, but mainly I’m looking for places for them to see and things to do. Ages 50-69. I’ve been raving about how they should go to NOLA for over 25 years I don’t want to disappoint them. We all love the vampire, witch, haunted aspect. Everyone loves music and since I don’t go out much at night I have no idea where to send them or how to find out who is playing in town during that timeframe. I want them to have a fantastic time so they will start to travel and see the USA. One of the guys has not flown in 23 years. The last time was with myself and other friends and we went to FT. LAUDERDALE.

No need to warn me about the crime and explaining to my friends about staying safe.

Thanks in advance.

My first thought when I saw your subject line was to recommend the World War II museum! However, it would not be open during those hours that the ladies are attending the concert. And I am afraid that I am otherwise of no help, because when I visit my family in NOLA, we eat at restaurants out in the suburbs and don’t go near the Quarter. Fortunately, I know there are a number of other Tuggers who will come with helpful suggestions!

Here are a couple of handouts, compliments of Quarter House.

I have a feeling "the guys" won't have any problem finding a place or two to hang out. There are scores of them.

Have them wander down Frenchmen Street. It will keep them busy all night.
