Has anyone stayed here recently. The reviews are pretty terrible but it appears that the resort is improving under new management. We are not a ski family but are looking for a ski weekend for my stepson who just started to ski last year with the boyscouts. So we just need a decent mountain for him to have fun on...

Booked Memorial Day weekend there...will let you know when I return....As a skier, don't think Ascutney is a great mountain, but you can drive to Killington or Okemo.......For a beginner it is probably fine.....

I have just returned from spending three days here....and.....We spent Memorial Day weekend in a two bedroom unit through an RCI points trade. The unit was immaculate and well decorated. It had two bedrooms and two bathrooms. All furnishings were new and clean. Kitchen had stainless steel full size appliances and granite countertops. We had a little balcony overlooking the back of the resort and a pond. The staff are extremely accomodating. They offer free WiFi but it was unfortunately not in service when we were there. We did not have any problem with AT&T phone/and internet service on the iphone. The onsite restaurant was open Fri., Sat., and Sunday. I think on Sunday it is just pizza. The grounds were well maintained and the units really come with everything you would need should you decide to cook in. We ate most meals out but did enjoy snacks in the evening and making coffee in the morning. It is a little isolated. I think there are better ski mountains in Vermont. The lifts looked a little antiquated but then again, it was hard to judge what the skiing would be like, since it was May. They show movies at night in their little theatre and have two pools and tennis courts. Holiday Inn has done a good job with the renovation.
