They want me to put up $999 plus taxes to sell my timeshare. Apparently their focus is to invite prospective buyers with free stays and gifts and try to resell timeshares at reduced prices. More than just listing, but how realistic.

They're not listed with BBB and the only negatives I read is in regards to sending payment after the timeshare is sold. So they do sell!

Nonsense...

Interesting logic and conclusion --- from a first time poster.
Just color me dubious...

Theo,

I looked in the big crayola box and couldn't find that color.... Is it one of the pastels or something? ;)

I assisted them on a few sales back in 06 and 07- but the referral fees were never paid.. I finally got tired of sending invoices to April Cummins and the amount wasn't enough to warrant legal expenses. I guess there isn't much profit in "arranging for free weekends", or perhaps the postman simply hasn't arrived yet! I haven't had any experience with them since so I can't provide anything recent..... Sorry..... If you are selling a property in Collingwood perhaps they can provide you with some value.

Generally, when you think about paying for advertising- regardless of which marketing company a seller should always ask a simple question...... How much actual exposure am I getting? You then determine if the marketing cost is warranted.

I'm always very leary of any marketing pitch that focuses on non-tangible advertising... For example- Our relationships can deliver.... We focus on corporate campaigns... We go to industry conferences and......Generally, these statement normally mean- "We don't really spend much money to advertise so we hope you'll accept these ideas which you can't really confirm!"...

At least that's better than the pitch "I have a mysterious buyer willing to pay twice what the resort charges- I just need you to pay my fee first and I'll send you the contract.."

The only negative is sending payments after selling!?! So you pay them $1000, they sell your TS and don't give you any of the money?! That sounds like a huge negative to me! :wall:

The advice here on TUG over and over again is "do not pay anyone up front fees to sell your TS!" Once they have your money they have no reason to try hard to get the TS sold. :crash:

This site probably has the broadest base of involved timeshare owners and users of any internet site around. By that I mean owners and users who pay attention to trends and activities among the entire timeshare industry, owners and users who actively buy and sell units, and who are prospecting for deals and opportunities.

And not one of us has ever reported being contacted by some company inviting us for free gifts and stays to market resale timeshares at any price, let alone at reduced prices.

******

This line about providing gifts and services as part of marketing for resale timeshares is almost totally bogus. It's possible that perhaps once a year the company rents a meeting room at some cheap hotel near the corporate offices and holds an "open house" for prospective buyers. Maybe they even send out ten or twenty e-mails to friends and associates offering "gifts" for attending.

But as far as marketing those services to buyers - well the various timeshare owner sites are probably the best places on the internet to troll for potential resale buyers. And yet none of us are ever contacted.

***

That's some pretty ineffective marketing being provided for that $1000.

Actually, I was the one that contacted them since they were referred to me in a list provided by my timeshare owner. The issue about sending payment after selling was more about the time it took to receive the payment. The payment was sent, it just took some "pulling of teeth" for the owners to finally receive it.

I realize that I'm a first time poster Theo, but I guess I don't see the relevance. Did my post sound like I was representing Rapid Resale? Hey look, now I'm a second time poster

If it sounds too good to be true most likely it is!!!!

Lets just say I have a lot to say about this company and don't think there is enough room in here to write about it all. Go ahead and do some research on this company Rapid Resale now under a new name of Secondary Solutions as well as All points solutions. No there is not a lot to be said about them ....don't you think that is a warning in it self? Be very careful what you do and how you do it and as far as my opinion would go I would not trust this company at all, you would probably be better off just trying to sell your TS on your own or just keep the thing and use it or give it away,Your never going to recoup what you paid for it. It is not worth the time or hassle of having to have a very unprofessional, unorganized company like them trying to say they are going to sell your properties when in reality all they really do is list it like they say there competitors do in the states. They wont sell your property unless it is on there select list of ones they allow there sales agents to sell. They take purchasers money and it is not until months sometime years before the seller receives a penny. Or if they can they will try to get you to relinquish your program so they can in turn sell it to the resorts they have connections with to put money in there pocket. Ok now think about it you pay them $999.00 plus GST to advertise your property on there web site for 12 months and then when you don't receive an offer they will call you and try to invite you in to see a specialist so that they can help you relinquish your program to sell you a better one that works for you. So what did you solve by paying an upfront fee ....just more fees they are only going to hook you in to re list even though you go in there saying you wont pay out any more money. How many times can a human get burned before they finally learn from past mistakes????

I had mine listed with them and paid 799 plus to advertise .... when 18 months went by with no word until near the end of my listing (ok so I did receive some "update letters" that are obviously the same letter every three months with no specific details to any activity on my program) then non stop again with the phone calls having Rapid Resale calling me and inviting me into there office to meet with a resort specialist to find a "solution" after refusing time and time again we finally gave in thinking what harm would it be....to get there and have to go through yet another aggressive pressure sale trying to convince us that they could put us into a better Time Share one where our maintenance fees would be less etc etc, they would give us XX amount for our property and we would only have to pay XXXXXX for the one they were trying to sell us on. Then when we did not bite on that they tried to convince us that we could re list for half price and keep are place in rank .... my wife and I were so confused on our way home we could not stop our heads from spinning!!!! PLEASE TAKE MY ADVICE DO NOT GIVE THEM YOUR MONEY

no such company at listed address

There is not such company at any of the listed address in Collingwood. Why do they say Rapid Resale is located in Collingwood if its not? does anyone know where this company is? is it even a company?

There is a basic rule with TS business offers: ANYONE who charges you a large upfront fee is going to scam you - Period!

It is more than likely a scam - don't risk your money with them

As all the posts in both threads about this likely SCAM operation state they are not to be trusted.

ANY group that calls or otherwise contacts YOU is 99% certain to be an upfront fee company. What are those? A group that makes great sounding promises to rent/lease/sell/transfer/etc your timeshare or system membership points at a good to great price. They often claim to have a buyer or a renter or a group wanting space, etc - but then YOU have to pay to assure the process gets done. In realty that is all they really want - the upfront money paid by you and they can basically disappear (you'll hear nothing more from them & they will be very hard to impossible to reach) to go after the next victim.

DO NOT try to deal with them as it is a scam. Forget any "guarantees" as they are unenforceable (ask yourself what recourse you'd have if you couldn't reach them tomorrow or they simply never followed through with the promises made). Forget any protection from a credit or debit card. They have things set up so what you are promised meets the minimum requirements to assure they, not you, get paid.

DO NOT try to use them or you will be out whatever money they manage to get from you. THAT is a guarantee you can bank on unlike the meaningless, unenforceable one they are trying to lure you in with. The PCC like tis one charge you $3-$4 THOUSAND to take your timeshare and then may, or may not, sell it off for $1. If they aren't able to / don't sell/transfer it you are likely to find a bill in the mail a year or two later since legally you still own & owe on it despite the thousands you paid to be done with it! DON'T DEAL WITH THEM!

I have NOTHING NICE TO SAY about Rapid Resale or the past owner, April Cummings..

Reports said this company was taken over by Sellmytimesharenow around the middle of last year. I'm not even sure if it is still in existence as anything other than a website at this point.

rapid resale has many forms

First, Rapid Resale is still very much the company that April Cummins uses...although it has many many names.
One of her companies is AllPoint Solutions Group...check out the numerous BBB listings and you will see how many places it has been registered. There are also some cleverly similar names and related businesses that float along the same trail. Home office numbers tend to be everywhere but nowhere at the same time as well as where these businesses are actually registered. Where the marketing focus tends to be at any given time is pretty much where the owner happens to be setting up shop..at that same given time (understandably) What i find curious is why so many variations of a name that is supposed to be solid gold in reputation. It is also noted that some info tends to vaporize making it difficult to contact anyone after things go badly and they have moved on.
Back to Rapid Resale..and whatever name they operate under for each scenario...
you have a timeshare you arent happy with, they entice you to get out from under the bad deal by "helping you" sell it but inform you that the only way and the least costly /easiest way to do so is to buy a timeshare from them (all Point/etc)
What they fail to say is they possibly sold it to you in first place under one of their operating names, will sell it to themselves for a price paid by you and will be happy to sell it again to someone else at full price etc.
This kind of marketing is a blight on the business world and is an afront to all.
Ask yourself a question....if a company spouts such loud agressive boasting about reputation and good name, why change it even once let alone so often? Nevermind the fact that they will gladly point you in the direction of carefully crafted testimonials from "owners" that sadly are sometimes cut and pastes from unrelated sites and forums. They have poor BBB ratings on the actual operation names but glowing ones on the shells that are linked from their own site and lastly, they emphasize emotional trigger pressure to their employees and prefer to hire those who are dazzled at idea of making crazy money so they are too dizzy to pay attention to their moral compass. Everybody needs to know and remember that there are 10 days to cool off from any contract....despite their arguements to the contrary.
Legitimacy in timeshare exists but not in companies like this.
Happy Vacationing!
